Mythos: The Beginning
author=Dark GaiaThanks for answering! I've never played those pen and paper RPG's so I
Hi everyone!
@macblo: Yeah, the fights are hard. It's because this game is meant to be a survival horror themed RPG (enemies are supposed to be a huge threat), plus the battle mechanics are actually emulating a pen and paper game (it even rolls a dice to determine if you hit or not) so fights are dangerous and if you battle every enemy instead of being smart, you WILL die. That said, I will probably tone them down a little in the full game. It also depends on which character background you've chosen -- Priests will die much quicker than Detectives, while Journalists have a crap Combat attribute so they'll take longer to destroy the enemies.
You should have some EXP now, from the first fight and maybe from utilising your non-combat skill (Persuade, Investigate or Occult Lore), so I would suggest heading to the Save Room and increasing your Guts and Combat. You can also sell your supplies for more EXP if you like, and spend it on resting up and learning more powerful skills. Throughout the demo, resting only costs 1 EXP, so it is possible to slowly kill all the enemies if you go back and rest between each fight.
Of course, if all else fails, you can always go into the Config menu and turn on Easy Mode. It will make EXP boosts cost less and healing items will become more plentiful.
wouldn't know how hard they are. I did plan on skipping most fights but I'm curious, are there any Boss fights in the game (I chose the journalist so that may be why the fight was so hard)?
Edit-I just made it into a main building and when I put the demon crest into the slot, the game freezes. I tried a second time and it froze again. Also, when I open the watchman's van, you didn't switch the event off, mean you can farm EXP from the truck.

Thanks for all the feed back guys! I've never played a Xenoblade game and
I've only played like 2 Tales of Games so thanks for telling me some stuff
from those games. I originally had most of the plot written out but after
I started going into more detail in the characters I had to scrap the whole
plot since it don't fit the characters. While I'm a little disappointed, but
it did help me flush out the characters a little so... I'm going to write
more details about the characters while I start trying to figure out
what I want to do for the plot.

author=acchaauthor=macbloIndra and Fomar's games are great to look into for this. If anything, the fact that I keep recommending In Search of Immortality for anything and everything should be a good indicator of how amazingly well they made their stuff. I hear that The Grumpy Knight also has a great cast of characters but I haven't gotten into it yet.
Thanks for all your input guys! Do you guys know any games that focus on
the characters, preferably an RPG maker game.
Both of these are fairly short and mostly comedic games (though In Search of Immortality has dark/serious undertones), but they have interesting characters that players fall in love with, which is the main thing you were asking for, right?
I have played In Search of Immortality and while I've only had a chance to play
through about half way, it was great! I'll try to finish it this week.

Mythos: The Beginning
I'm SOOOOOO looking forward to this. I'm not brave enough to play horror games
but if your making it I'll at least give it a try since I LOVE he legionwood series.
Edit-I just got past the first fight and my character was almost completely
powerless. If it wasn't for the fact that guarding heals me, I would have
lost that fight.

Sweet! I really enjoyed Blood Haze but I did not have a chance to finish it
before I lost my save file. I'll get around to starting over but I'll just play this first.

Thanks for you input! I'll make sure to take what you said into account when I'm
developing my characters! I'm glad you reminded me of Poo, that was a
really cool thing they did.

What should go in a character focused game
In a game that I'm working on, I've decided to make the characters the
focus of the game. I don't want to get into detail now, but I need
help with what people think character driven means. Besides obvious
things such as character unique skills and scenes in the game
were characters all gather round a dinner table or a camp fire or
some such thing and talk about who they are, their feelings and stuff,
what would you guys like to see in a game like this?
