Super RMN Bros. 3

I'm waiting for Doki Doki World to wrap up. We're on the home stretch.

I'm looking forward to playing that!
So should the rest of us start brainstorming or something? Cuz I've got a ton of ideas.

Oh man, if you guys decide to start a more serious Mario project then I'd be all over that in a heart beat.

I tried a while ago but didn't get much response. And now I think we should start from scratch anyway.

Super RMN Bros. 3

If only I weren't so terrible at organizing these things. I lose interest in 80% of the projects I start, mostly because I realize that the premise isn't good enough. We need an idea that's really, really great.

So try not to get too antsy; I'm sure none of you have found all 180 stars in this game yet. ;P

I got enough stars to exit the Pit. It stopped being fun long before that. Lots of good levels, but also lots of annoying ones. Plus I played most of these while we were just testing stuff, so I'm all SRMNB3'd out. I've moved on to Talking Time Bros 2. Gonna see what I can learn from those guys.

Next time, I recommend the following:

1) Come up with a limited number of worlds (like 6 or 8) beforehand. This way everyone will adjust their difficulty accordingly.
2) Have everyone make 1 to 3 levels per world.
3) Scrap the ones that aren't fun. (Go back and try again)
4) Don't have one guy shoulder the whole project. Everyone ought to be trying out each other's levels and offering feedback, rather than just one person. Collab = Collaboration. Most people have differing opinions on what is and isn't fun, and more feedback means more suggestions, more play testing, and better stuff overall. (I.E. This is part of the rules. All participants have to do it.)
5) No boundaries: Let the player go to whichever world they want and play any level they want.
6) And make it so you can only control Mario! Though that is a personal preference. :P

We should try to make a better game than Talking Time Bros 2.

Super Talking Time Bros 1+2

Will there be a TT Bros 3? I'd love to get involved in that.

So when can we start making levels for Super RMN World?

But that level wasn't even that hard.

Every level in this game is somewhere between hard and impossible.

Higher standards I don't mind but NOT a level cap!

The point of the level cap is to force people to focus their efforts on making a handful of good levels instead of competing to see who can make the most. But if we have higher standards, that might not even be a problem. I don't know why you're worried though; very few people can work that fast AND that well. It's just an idea though.

I feel like I don't deserve to be, but I'm willing to try one more time. I'd like some serious help next time, though.

I'm offering my services; I've got plenty of experience. I think the three most important things we need to consider next time are planning, organization and evaluation. Maybe have a panel of judges rate each level, with a minimum score required to pass. Or something less formal.

Super RMN Bros. 3

I do think we should have higher standards for RMN World. Maybe pick themes for the worlds beforehand, and not accept levels unless they're fun, well-designed and of appropriate difficulty for the world in which they would appear. Every level should be at least a 3/5 in terms of quality. A maximum level cap isn't a bad idea either.
