A game of a sizable scale with zero bugs is probably virtually impossible to pull off. Even if every bug known is discovered and squashed, it does not negate the fact that a new one could pop up later.

I don't think I agree with taking off a game because of outdatedness, considering my game gets outdated every day, but to each his own. This tactic, though not your intention, is a way of getting people more psyched/aware of whenever the actual release comes.
