Me either, because my aversion to it is for entirely personal reasons. I'd rather people get to know me beforehand, so I'd rather get to know the hypothetical girl beforehand as well. I actually get sort of weirded out when girls show that kind of interest in me without knowing anything about me :\ but if they're cute I learn to cope.

Still, walking up and asking for a number after some small talk totally boggles my mind. If it works for people, that's awesome, but I don't think I'd respond well to it if I was a girl (and it's a good thing I'm not because I'm flat as all hell)

No, believe it or not, people who don't agree with your views on "how to approach girls" can still have healthy relationships with them. If I didn't answer your question right away it's only because I thought the basis of your inquiry was retarded. Hope this helps.

Totally legit, I completely agree. We all have ugly traits and the smart/considerate among us try to at least mitigate them in public out of respect for others (I kinda lump this in with "being yourself" assuming "yourself" = "not an asshole"), if someone has trouble doing getting over themselves enough to do that in a given social situation, getting a date is probably not where their life-improvement efforts are best directed to begin with :p

Also: placidly awaiting the sociology insight bomb and ensuing discussion if/when you decide to drop it on us
