Musagi can get you some nice NES/chiptune styled sounds and has a pretty neat little interface too. It's still in development though and not yet as feature-rich as some of the programs posted above but it's simple, very conducive to playing around in, and worth keeping an eye on.

All 4 years were pretty bitchin' in spite of the fact that I was a totally unpopular dweeb among my peers. I lived in a beautiful, quiet, affluent town, classes were a snap with a capital nap, I had a good paying, very low stress full time job working for my girlfriend's dad during the school year, sometimes with a job as a counselor at a 4H camp during the summer (still my favorite job out of all the ones I've had), my mom was the only parent in the picture at the time and was gone two weeks out of the month for the first two years and had moved to another state entirely for the last 2 years so I was pretty uninhibited and had all the independence I could ask for. Staying on top of the bills sucked a mammoth dick towards the end (and for that matter it still does) but it didn't matter, I felt like I was living the dream.

Come to think of it I haven't even lived alone since :p goddammit

One April weekend in 2000 a couple students went on a drunk joyride, the driver plowed his mom's SUV through a barrier and off a smallish cliff where it landed front-first in the beach below. The car was seriously mangled but none of the students were injured. To make the students an example on the following Monday they towed the smashed up vehicle to the front of the school (where it was visible to most of the classrooms through windows) and left it outside all day, all fragmented glass, bent metal and light spatterings of blood on the interior.

Not that much a traumatizing sight on its own, but that previous Saturday my nephew was killed in a car accident and it happened to be the first thing I saw while going to school to try to resume a normal routine. I turned around and pedaled right back home that day :x

Runners up:

guy getting thumb caught in drill press in shop class (he took it like a freaking champ, I was impressed)

guy punching another guy in the face so hard that both wrist and face got fractured in an unusually violent disagreement among stoners

the time this troubled youth climbed onto the school's roof before class, pulled off a shingle, crapped on it, and stuck it to the outside of my first period class window (not really the worst, but one of the funniest)

and finally the talent portion of the 2001 Nantucket High School Junior Miss pageant. Sorry ladies, should have stuck to your strengths, like standing in the hallways looking pissed off.
