Amort Review

My god, thanks for the super kind review Piano!

The story manages to be wonderfully creepy while being delightfully silly. And the main character is taking everything so deadly serious.

That line made me quite happy. You got what I was going for! I explained to my fellow teammates when I made this story, it was done at such a rapid rate I deemed it a "professional" version of my first childhood attempts at RPGs, which is making whatever crazy thing that comes to your mind and lack a hesitation or reflection upon it before putting it in.

Amort, to me, is improvisation in RPG form. I'm totally glad it made an impact on you, as we had no time to sit down and think about things.

I do believe we fixed up the broken heirloom glitch. I think the Post Man had one hp too many and you used Scold twice. That was my bad, as I made the fight before I properly limited the Perception skills haha. The rest of those pesky glitches will be fixed in due time.

Oh, what a lovely enthusiasm.
I'm playing the game to write a review too (and a positive one), but now i'm afraid of ruining the perfect score.

Never EVER be afraid of ruining a perfect review score. I can't speak for the team (actually yes I can shh (jk)) but an additional review + additional feedback/responses is utterly welcome, no matter the score.

Shadows of Adam Review

Thanks for the review. One quirk of the game is nearly 20-40 of the NPCs are paid KS backers. And they wrote us a lot immersion breaking dialogue, but we tried to work them in as best we could.
That makes so much sense lol!

Shadows of Adam Review

Well written review!

I'm about three hours in and my biggest complaint so far is dialogue and story. I'll likely write my own review so I'll spare my side of it but this review is pretty similar to what I think so far. I'm fond of dungeons and battles but I have much to be desired with dialogue and character as of yet.

I am having fun and it reminds me of Mystic Quest and Lufia 1 over games like FF6.

Sideways Review

Nice review! If I wasn't a tester, I would have bumped it up on half from this purely due to how much I got enjoyment out of it. I should download this and finish the last 3 quests when I can. Overall I felt it was a very nice small experience.

Three Ghostly Roses Review

While this review was brief, it was cleverly written. I am so glad that people notice the amount of effort I spent into the subtle pacing of everything. Sometimes one thinks "does it even matter in the end?" then after the good reception I have received as of yet proves to me that it does matter.

I'm sincerely glad you enjoyed the game as much as you did! It's a huge honor to have a five star review (my first!)

I learned of Lisa (the steam version) after I made the long forgotten original version of this game and the first thing I thought was "dammit if I eventually make Ghostly Roses better people are gonna think I copied this when they see Edmund" haha. I still haven't play the Lisa games yet though.

All in all, thank you for putting the effort to play my game to the end and write this very kind review!

Three Ghostly Roses Review

You were nitpicky and gave me a 4/5 rating... That's still quite nice, haha. I thought you were pretty nice in it myself.

I also thought about that myself. I went ahead and made a plot that was different from the RPG norm. Instantly it would set a higher standard for the player. The better a game developer does on a game, the harsher the player will be on the shortcomings due to the standard set. It's something that one must consider when being ambitious. The small things could also bring a game down and your job as a reviewer is to catch those things too. I'm definitely taking the info to heart and much appreciate it.

If I ever do a hard mode I'd definitely make sure it wasn't frustrating and avoid level design traps where the player is screwed. Actual additional work (other than typo/error fixes) will have to wait some time definitely, but I'm certainly not against it! I certainly wouldn't do anything half assed either haha.

Three Ghostly Roses Review

This was a well written and ultimately fair review! The choice to have save points instead of anywhere was a tough one to make. I don't know, perhaps sometime I could add in save anywhere and have a hard mode where you can't leave a dungeon once you go in and must survive only off killing enemies better.

The gameplay critiques I agree with. I made a mechanic and went with it. If I ever do more work on this game I'd definitely rethink the gameplay. But I do think it's good enough and can be fun ultimately.

Thank you for taking the time to play my game and extra thanks for taking the time to write a review! I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did.

Ocean's Dream Review

In real life, all ocean needs to do is show his pixel art of clouds and stuff. Dudes a genius.

Three Ghostly Roses Review

I don't think I mentioned what FP stands for. :O

To use those specially-focused attacks however, you need to have at least 1 FP, firepower? funpoint? feverpunch?

It's funny because it's called Focus Points haha.

Thanks for such a wonderful review! It was a great read and I also much appreciate pointing out what you didn't like or what you felt at a certain point. All that helps a lot.

I'm glad you really enjoyed it in the end, especially as much as you did! I was very careful about the mood one feels as the game progresses as I even mirrored it in the music. It starts doom and gloom but I'm glad Edmund's story proved to be something more for you. That was my intention haha.

Three Ghostly Roses Review

Thank you for this wonderful review!

This is not the first time a battle system I made was compared to a puzzle game! That's quite an honor, seeing how easy it is to have turn based not have a whole lot of thought required.

It's not a small nitpick to mention the battle sprites issue, it's something I totally agree on. Ideally I would have had animated battle sprites that more or less indicated where the weakness was and changed throughout the fight. Unfortunately, I neither had the time nor skill to pull that off at the time of making this haha. I did try to have some visual cues. I can totally see the confusion with bird and turtle. I don't know why but I had the rules be "flying = upper" and turtle I knew I was pushing it with having the head be the middle and the shell be the top. If I ever work on this game again, (god forbid not in a long time I hope haha) the first thing I'd do is work on battle sprites.

I shamefully admit I didn't know who John Carpenter was before this review but turns out that there are similarities when I sampled through various soundtracks he did. That was very cool.

Overall, this was a great read that was very well thought out. I can't say this enough, but it's an honor you enjoyed it as much as you did!

That Edmund fanart is incredibly good. Seriously! If I ever decide to make Three Ghostly Roses into a cartoon network cartoon, I know who to turn to!
