Hello, new month, new roundup. Our supposed roundupper couldn't make it this weekend either so I'm at it again!

February is a shorter month than January so there's not quite as many games this time around.

GAMES

Revolting Kingdom by DomedVortex
The Kingdom is considered the best place in the world. It is ruled by any king who Emerges. The Outside is the rest of the world, which the Kingdom rarely associates with.

Play as the Kingdom's best fighters as they venture to the Outside on a quest of vengeance. Battles involve traditional, turn-based combat; fight with 5 characters at once, and utilize many powerful skills against difficult enemies that employ strategies of their own.

Liberators of Gobagov by Recker
A young warrior, Rok is hiding in a small town. He is the son of a rebel general who opposes the evil tyrant King Granch. A bounty hunter tracks down his father and mortally wounds him, but before he dies, his father instructs Rok to bring together the remaining rebel generals to take down King Granch. However it won't be simple as each general is hiding out in places Granch can't find them. Dangerous places that will be perilous for Rok and his small band of allies to venture into. Rok must set up a base in an abandoned city and gather his forces so that he can invade Gobagov and put an end to King Granch's tyranny.

Recker also has this to say about it:
"A number of years ago I spent hours and hours developing this humorous RPG game in RPG Maker XP. I spent so much time on it, I don't even want to try to recall just how much. My efforts produced a huge turn-based RPG game with some similarities to the Suikoden series of video games from the 90s."

Toraware no Shoujo -Bluebird of Happiness- by Kya90
Ai is a young sickly girl that lives with her overprotective father. Many rooms in the house won’t open, and when her father Jugo is not around she’s locked in her room with just her "imaginary" friend Bosco for company. She believes that her father’s strict behavior is out of concern for her health, but one day she discovers something which changes her mind. During her quest to find the main door key she learns that she has very little time to leave before it’s too late…

Frogge has some issues but likes it overall in his review
"Toraware no Shoujou has definetly seen a huge improvement in this version, and I obviously recommend it over the original, just like probably how anyone else would. It has its fair share of flaws in the gameplay and visuals, but it's not a bad game at all. The developers have definetly shown their true potential with this game a lot more than they did with the original, so I'm happy to see whatever they come up with next."

Journey of the damned by Dizontinar
Follow the quest of Eolkion, a man who is trying to return to his homeland, from which he was exiled. On his travel, he will be attacked by the minions of the Lich King in a desert, so he will have a tough time.

In this minigame, you will have to run away from monsters who are trying to stop your way. Furthermore, you will also try to gain some chests in your path.

Shooty and the Catfish (episode 1) by visitorsfromdreams
Welcome to the world of Nimbin, a world full of strange characters and even stranger characters. Shooty and Zaat are a team dedicated to solving mysterious monster mysteries, for a price of course, as much as they love what they do they cant do it just for the love ya know. In todays episode a call comes in from a mushroom mining town called Grit where strange things are definitely afoot!

Shooty and the Catfish is an episodic series with 5 episodes in total planned, each of these episodes building on the mechanics and story as they go. With a Game Boy Color inspired aesthetic and an original EDM soundtrack by Jim Hort and a unique resource management based combat system, I hope you enjoy this first entry into this strange new series.

There are some reviews of an earlier demo most of which seem positive.

Cats VS Zombies by Failsauce
Badtown got it's name rightfully, this place is just bad. Well, it used to not be, but now there are zombies freaking everywhere! It was bad enough when there were just one or two, but the whole town has been "zombie-fied," meaning that there is literally no one left to operate the can openers! I have got to level with you, fixing those humans is going to be a pain. But, a tom, named Tom, has got to do what a cat has got to do. He's got to fix those humans.

Failsauce has this to say about how the game came to be:
"This game was inspired by RMN's "Make a Bad Game" contest, that I, sadly, did not have the time to partake in. Add to that a few RMW friends that wanted a "cat" game. The deal was sealed when I realized that I had VexedEnigma's POP! Horror resources just sitting there collecting dust. One quick trip to TimeFantasy's corner, and I had the cat, the tiles, and the inspiration. Now, it's time to level some claws of retribution on those zombie fiends!"

Black Ritual RE by manpaint
The elf Elysys was kidnaped by a mysterious cult worshipping the deity of light and knowledge Hellios. With the help of a powerful mage named Lucien, she gets a chance to escape. During her journey, she will discover that she is ignorant about the myths and legend of the world of Dymunia.

Black Ritual is back with a rewritten story! Will you make your way out of the mysterious cult without getting caught?

This seems to be a remade version of the earlier game which is also available to download in the "Downloads" tab.

The previous version has a review by Frogge who was not kind on the game:
In conclusion, I would say Black Ritual is a game with good visuals, but not much else. It's very unpolished, confusing, and frustrating. I did not enjoy my experience with the game

Magical Machi by LaytonsGal
Machi lives her carefree days in her small apartment, watching shows and playing her favorite game, "Magical Girls Online" with her best friend Akimasa.

Meanwhile, their crime fighting friend Fumiko is out making a name for herself.
Frustrated with Machi never doing anything, and Aki never making a move, Fumiko decides to suggest that Machi try going out with one of her co-workers.

However, this sets off a chain of events that gets Machi not only involved in one of Fumiko's biggest cases yet, but gets Aki kidnapped by a murderer!
Now, it's up to Machi to to bring Aki back and realize that sometimes you have to save them from a complete psychopath to learn who you truly love.

DEMOS
Demos are not real games so they are in a list again.

That was February. In March there's TimTam Slam that ends just before April so I expect a bunch more new games to show up then. Hopefully I'm not the one who has to round those up!

A good month for demos I would say!
Also, I would have finished and review Shooty and the Catfish by now if I were able to run MV games.

The whole not being able to run MV games thing really befuddles me. My 2011 Macbook pro runs the game at 60fps with no drops so its all very confusing to me. :(

It's not a performance issue, it's just that I haven't figured out how to configure wine to make them or MV run yet.

Wait, why do you need to use wine? I only thought that was needed by mac folk and I supplied a version for that. Are you on Linux?

Yes, there's a tutorial to make it work, tho. I should have done it years ago instead of complaining on every other gamepage.

Why you gotta go make life hard by using Linux instead of using a shit platform like everyone else. :P
