Description

The dead armies of games forgotten lurk in the dark, waiting for unsuspecting developers to lose their way on the path to their current games and stop in their tracks to think of days gone by.

It's time to dig them up from their early graves and release them on the world come this Hallowe'en.

Yup, it's that time of year again! Combining Release Something and the annual Halloween event, we task you with taking an old, abandonned game, shining it up and letting it run free in the fields of 2019.

Rules
- Start on October 1st
- Finish by October 30th
- Game MUST be abandoned. In this case, not worked on for at least a few months or put aside whilst you worked on something else. It can be game ideas that you threw away and didn't get far into creation, too.
- There needs to be a decent chunk of work done on it over the course of the month.
- Any engine, any resources, etc
- Must have a game page made and accepted to the site BEFORE the end date.

To Submit:
- You need a gamepage that has been accepted to the site (either newly made or an older one from the initial creation of the game)
- Sign up to this page as a participant.
- Click the Submit button at the top-right of the page.
- Upload the game to your gamepage.
- Choose the proper download for the game from the drop-down list and hit Submit.

Badges
- A badge for those who release a full game - 60 MS
- A badge for those who release a demo - 30 MS
- A badge for those who take part in at least one of the prompts that will put up over the course of the month to showcase progress made - 10 MS

You don't need to do that. Just repost what you'd made already so I can check after the call to post post.
I am here for the prompt! WITNESS ME! The (very basic!) UI for aiming magic attacks is working now.

I still need to make the movement grid visible to make it obvious what is happening, though. I'm working on a turn-based overhead game where you attack by drawing a line segment within a certain range and maximum length. All squares the line touches take damage. Sort of like Fire Emblem, but using the beam weapons from FTL.

Lots of nice-looking stuff from you guys so far :)

I haven't coded anything yet. I'm still drawing assets: sprites, battlers, busts and tiles. Here's a mockup showing some of the art I've made so far:

added animations and placeholder enemies
So proud of all of you, especially those of you finding the time to make this awesome stuff around full time jobs and all that other stupid real life bullshit that isn't RPG Maker.

I'm gonna try to share something for the minievent (it might be late, I don't know) and I really wish I had a before picture, but Fires of Freedom (which is now Live Free Or Die) was an rm2k game that I started in 2002 and had lost by the year 2005. But man, if I could somehow get that before screenshot, I could show you people some really, really, really terrible mapping (I've learned a thing or two in the subsequent 17 GODDAMN YEARS JESUS CHRIST I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS TOO LONG
holy shit I just noticed the cheevos good use of Evanescence lol
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Hello, I am checking in for the minievent.
I've made a lot of progress, but I'll just release a few teasers for now.

This is one of the charsets I'm using.

This is it, and a few variations, in action (WIP).

And finally this.

It's the finished version of the WIP I submitted the other day, regarding the chamber of the eldritch god known as Aremen.

Do it, it's always fun to participate in the events, even if you don't manage the finish something. Or hey, even a 5 minutes demo can be fun!

Progress thus far:

Rewriting the game's plot and making the whole gameplay.
Graphics is all placeholder for now. Still gotta look for good tilesets.

So I've just about finished the battle system, I have one other major system and then the game just needs some content.

Hope you all like card games.

It's an empty image, yes.

I'm sorry, I was going to do Queen of Cups, but this wasn't supposed to be a team event. Then when Libby changed it, I was already so deep into what I was doing, I just kind of forgot that I had intended to do that.
That's alright as you can see I haven't been productive anyways. I've actually been deep cleaning and reorganizing my house.
my god wait someone is done already stop it you people are too fast

Fomar I like the looks of that for the MOST part but I feel like aesthetically the RTP animations are not doing you any favors, especially at that scale/resolution (if nothing else, I'd make them much smaller).

@MIRAK: WILL YOUR GAME MAKE ME TRIP OUT IF I PLAY IT WHILE STONED?

minievent checkin forthcoming
okay okay, I'll post something here.
Over the weekend, work held me up, but tonight I managed to get some solid progress! I am so glad that I've been able to repurpose some of the unused maps in this game.

Here's a battle screen showing off a ton of recent new content. the battle background, the flying bathtub enemy, and the slightly easier to read custom font. tho the non-bold version was cuter, I felt readability was more important. I still have the older version on hand if a compromise can be made later tho.

Tomorrow I plan on assembling the Giratina sidequest. Later on, populate the endgame town with interiors and more Drifloon. After that, the final dungeon. I sorta want to do a random dungeon generator dungeon to make it quick and easy, but at the same time I already did that in chapter 6. I really don't wanna get hung up on a ton of mapping in the second half, especially when I've got story stuff to cover still.
After that, Dialga encounter+cutscene, wrap-up cutscene+kirby's apology, and then the ending montage.
I better be able to get this thing done. >_>
Fixed up some more skill/states that escaped, got barrier skills working proper, changed up some bosses, some work on status screen stuff to fix up cut off words, now to finish up a playtest up to chapter 1~ and adjust enemies and stuff more.

those flying bathtubs are pretty amazeballs. Not super interested in a game you spend playing as kirby (I think), jigglypuff (I think), and a blue rabbit I completely don't recognize, but I do really like the flying bathtubs.
