SUPER SMASH BROS FOR WIIU

Posts

That's a good idea. We should post our timezones.

I'll add people to skype when I get the WiiU and start adding Nid's.

Ah, it seems that the replays are just a log of all the button inputs. When you load a replay it just recreates the match. Camera or capture card would be the only way. Lame. I wouldn't mind having a capture card though...
I am in the Saskatchewan timezone. (serious. There is one. look it up)

Just an update: me and my room mate are picking up Smash 4 tomorrow, so I'll post my Wii U info after I sit down with him and fool around with the game.
I'm in the Alberta time zone, (which is Mountian Time.) The time of this post was 7:18 PM.
I looked up your timezone, kenton, and it says mainly CST. This site doesn't recognize your special time zone :P http://www.timeanddate.com/time/zones/ Must be a local thing.

Just updated the OP with a fancy table for all our info! I'll probably be adding more columns over time. Any ideas? I'm thinking characters with little icons of their heads, maybe win/loss records for Smash Seasons(think hockey seasons), preferred rules(no items/items).
Personal preference would be Omega stages with no items, battle for the glory y'know? But I'm willing to allow such chaos as having items in the battle as well, but only at a low drop rate.

I usually play with a few items turned on, but I'd be willing to just go with no items if that's what people prefer. Omega Stages only, I hate the fucking Smash gimmicks with a passion. I'm in Eastern Time, UTC -05:00, according to Google. It's about 9:30 PM here now if you need direct reference.

Do you mean the characters we main?
I like Omega stages, but the lack of platforms is really limiting in the types of fights you have. So I prefer stages like battlefield and smashville. I'll maybe make categories like Omega, Tournament, All. I do hate most of the gimmicks for serious matches, but some of the gimmicks can be fun for teams or just fooling around. For the sake of the table we'll just pick 1 as our preference.

No items, yeah, glory all the way. But I was playing online with forced rules, and forced items, and I had a decent time. It's good to play with items for the sake of experiencing everything that is in the game. Some of the new ones are pretty interesting. The final smashes are fun to see, but as a game mechanic it kinda sucks. When the smash ball comes out I generally take that opportunity to attack the others, because they are more focused on trying to grab it xD Luigi's downB is awesome for grabbing the smash ball! So there will be categories for items; none, all, and maybe numbers from 1-5 indicating how frequent you like items.

Characters you main and second, maybe even third. I guess just list the characters you claim to be good with, or are best with. Perhaps we can pick 1 main and then just list all others in a group. Since it's early I really don't know who I'm going to end up maining.

I'm still working on the details and I'll post more to the OP. I'm clearly taking this very seriously :|

e1: I just remembered, Zeuzio, your Duck Hunt dog was pissing me off xD You kept sniping me with that can. And omg, that time you killed me with the can when I was on the ledge!! HAHAHAH That was epic. I was sitting there, watching the can fly through the air, watching it fall towards me, not thinking it would hit me :P

e2: J-man and Pizza, would you be willing to say Omega/Tournament for you stage preference? (see OP legend)

Alright. I don't know if I like the Omega stages yet, since I have yet to actually play the game.

My main is Mr. Game and Watch, and I also like to play Peach sometimes. I'd say Wario, but I only like his Project M incarnation so it's a moot point. I'm interested in some newcomers like Little Mac and Villager, but I need to try them out first.

Also, sorry for not being clear, but I'll play with no items when I vs you guys. I'm not attached to them, so I'd rather make it easier for everyone and say I don't use them.

I like playing Stock 4. No exceptions, this is how I play the game.
The Duck Hunt and Wii Fit Studio stages don't have any dangerous gimmicks that I can think of off the top of my head.

And to clarify: my Skype is AlphaOmega247, my time zone is EST, I'm not a real man so I play with all items on at whatever the default drop rate is, and I typically play 2:00 timed matches (because I'll sit out half the match if it's stock with more than two people). And I have no stage preferences. I'll play on anything.

I should also point out that since my preferred play style is definitely in the vast minority, I'm willing to go with just about any other set of rules. I'll suck in any case, so it doesn't really matter. XD
Oh...I'm CST. I don't mind gimmicky stages every now and then, but yeah, tourney/omega for me. Same with items: I can deal with them, but for serious battles I don't want items for sure. I can't stand time, either, so 4 stock yay!

Just imagine if FD was the only level you could fight on, then your in the mindset of Omega levels. The only difference is the visuals and music, but it's FD. It gets a little boring. I like platform mindgames.

It's ok if your preference isn't what most people do. It's not meant to be used to figure out what we're all going to do. Like a majority vote or anything. It's more to reflect what we find most enjoyable in the game.

We should all be open to playing different rules once and while. I know I am. We can still end up playing our preferences more often.

I was thinking about doing some events or something. Maybe offer some challenges of my own and do special rules fights. I dunno, just for fun if anyone is interested. I'm going to come up with some special tournament rules too. Like, hmm items on max, all bomb items, on 3 minute timed match. Chaos.

And for a tournament, I could do up a chart and the people who are matched up have x days to fight each other and then either forfeit the match or reschedule. The tournament would possibly take weeks to finish. I wonder if they would think to add a feature like that. Instead of only forming an in-game tournament with everyone online now.

Little Mac isn't as great as I would have hoped.
He's fast and powerful but he has really short range, no projectiles, his aerials are lame, and his recovery is the worst I've ever seen. It would take too much effort to master him and he will always be at a disadvantage against plenty of characters.

Villager seems pretty good. His tree chopping move is prettay...unique.

I had to pull up a list online and didn't see Duck Hunt. I couldn't remember what the gimmick was on Wii Fit. I do remember there is annoying voice overs doing yogi. Those seem like possible tourney stages.

In every group there will be different skill levels. I'm sure everyone will find equal opponents ^.^

He'll make a good team character. For sure.
My Skype is Parlour_Trick so feel free to add.

I thought the GamePad had a microphone built in anyway? My main is probably Shulk, but I haven't had much of a chance to use all the characters. My main used to be Lucas so I guess Ness would be my second!

Guess I should add my roster of schmucks I like to play as well.

Lesse... Ness, Mario, Dr.Mario, Mr.Game and Watch, Duck Hunt(Da Cunt):P, Yoshi, and Diddy Kong.

The gist of it is that people running and voting and enacting legislation in Saskatchewan are moronic. Geographically, we ought to be on Mountain time, but instead we are ALWAYS on Central Time even when other places switch an hour forward/back for Daylight Saving Time. So for half of year we are in sync with Calgary/Edmonton, the other half Winnipeg. It is so confusing that even after living here for over 30 years I can never remember which we are at any given day...
Must be that whole Day Lights Savings or something. But HEY, WASSAP NEIGHBOR. Alberta's gonna beat up Saskatchewan! :P

Alright, just spent some time acclimating myself to the game with my room mate. Holy fuck it's fantastic. It's what Brawl should have been. Being able to map the controls yourself is a feature I've wanted since Melee, since I could never use the guard or grab to their full effect on the shoulder buttons, and I expect it to improve my play a lot.

My Nintendo ID is PizzaTheFace. Not sure how I forgot that. Also, you can add Bowser Jr. to my list of characters, because he is insanely fun (also, playing as Roy is baller).

Bowser Jr. is insanely awesome, yes! I'm not sure why I haven't committed myself to using him much, actually. Roy's my favorite, too. Dem sunglasses.
I would use Koopa Kiddies more if I didn't drive myself off the stage every time the clown car got wheels.

And I'm pretty sure you could map the controls in Brawl. I seem to recall changing all of my friend's controls once... you know, push A to shield, push Z to attack, push left to jump. Good times, that.
