Elsa, a Death Knight working in the mainland, returns home to Helena's Kingdom to "save" it from monsters...But all is not as it seems.
For one, the monsters don't attack people; they just make themselves a nuisance. And they will only fight females.
Join Elsa as she sets out to defeat all the monsters on the island and discover what is it that the monsters are planning.

-Made for the VX Ace Lite cook off contest.
-Boss rush gameplay. All enemies are powerful one-time encounters.
-No grinding for items or experience. Each of the four powerful bosses unlocks a new level and items are freely replenished.
-Choose from 10 supporting party members, each with a unique skill set and mechanics.
-3 different endings and various new game unlockables..
-Humorous characters and lighthearted storyline.
-Complete game takes around two hours (Seeing only one ending. You mileage may also vary).
-Online achievements.
-This game is part of the Arum universe.

The game was made in a two week deadline for the VC Ace Lite cook off contest.
Being made within the Lite limitations, there were a lot of things we could not pull off smoothly, because there is no script support, only ten events per map, twenty maps total, and a bunch of other stuff.
Please keep that in mind when playing, since many of the things that may come to mind as odd gameplay choices are not us, but Lite being a complete evil bastard XD
Update! The recent version has been revamped a bit and we removed the ace limitations (as well as adding a few extras) so that's taken care of. Enjoy ;3

Lastly: please, please give us your feedback!
What bosses did you find harder? What was your best team? Did you get all the endings? And if so, which was your favourite?
(When talking about endings or plot events, please put the text within a spoiler and put a warning before it. They’re supposed to be a surprise ;3)

The ring is there are a tease, the fight never used to be capped which did lead some people to spend half an hour trying to kill him.

Dead Moon Night is where Robin first appeared. It's been revamped though so you might want to wait a couple of weeks.

Chronological Order:
Dead Moon Night -> The Grumpy Knight -> In Search of Immortality
In Search of Clues -> (sometime after Dead Moon Night and maybe the Grumpy Knight) In Search of Dragon

Really glad you enjoyed the game enough to play it through for the other endings!
Ok cool cause I tried to fight him a billion times...I thought maybe he was similar to the Ice Nymph.

As for DMN I've subbed to it so I don't miss the blog post when the revamp is complete :D I can't wait

The Special Ending was totally worth and Hard mode was a nice challenge even with the Scythe and the Death RIng it although the third night of the special path I though I was missing something because it just said something like "Hmmm...there's nothing here" I spent like 20 minutes trying to find something else to click on...again minor issue just though I'd let cha' know
Is it possible to defeat the "chest" monster in the castle WITHOUT using the ring?
I know Elsa is "hinting" me to use it....but...

Impossible with him this status of immortality.

I keep taking a vile, vile pleasure in players that keep asking if they can defeat the trap chest (as Fomar has said a number of times, no, it's not possible, you have to return the ring).

To my defense: that was totally Fomar. I had nothign to do with combat so :9

Also glad to see peeps liking the game! ;-; (tho that's sort of obvious and all). We're already hard at work at the next one ><
I love this game! It's really simple, but it's oh-so adorable and the characters are endearing. Even the combat was great, I had lots of fun trying out different team compositions and strategies.

The special ending is my favorite.

Aww thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Aaaaaargh!!! Help me get the final achievement before I write a review!

I've unlocked everything except

Elsa's Armoury (20)
Collect all of Elsa's weapons.

I can't figure out what weapon I'm missing. I've seen all the endings, killed the zombie dragon, bought every weapon from the guard - what else do I need to do?

:P
I forgot when I put that achievement in that exactly one weapon is a drop from the second secret boss lurking in the kitchen. Just make sure to get all the weapons on the joke ending route.

Edit: Congrats just checked the achievement site.
Ya!!!!! I got all three endings. The first one I got was the true one! I loved it Soo cute!!!! Hope to see more this was really well done.
Thanks for the prompt reply Fomar and apologies for my mega-slowness!

Review submitted and pending. I look forward to your next game!
Really loved this game! the main character reminded me a lot of someone i know and the guard reminded me a lot about me,so it was a really fun experience XD i'd definetely like to see a sequel, maybe about the MC returning to her army's kingdom :3!
I downloaded it yesterday and got all 3 endings, today I only got the last achievement of Elsa's weapons ((completely forgot of the last one)) at first, I was thinking it would be boring, since the game was pretty straight-forward and the battles were limited, but even with that, it felt like such a great game ~

it's such a cute game~! the story is funny and great in a way, I would submit a review if it weren't because i'm terrible at explaining, but there is alot of good things to say of this game from me, i'll nominated instead ^^~ best of luck kero~!

I passed like 6 battles trying to beat the chest, just to come here and read he is invincible literally, ohh well, I guess Elsa never though in equipping the ring of inmortality in battle

is the soundtrack original or from other games~? I liked the 4th spirit battle theme, the mother, I don't remember her name

I haven't tried Hard mode, but aside difficulty is there any point in playing it~? or is it just for people seeking a challenge~?
Hard is just for those seeking a challenge there's no additional rewards for difficulty.

In the past people have complained our games have been too hard/too easy so I added a difficulty select system but there are no rewards for doing either over the other.

Also congratulations on being the 2nd non-dev to hit 1500!

We have two more games in the revamp pipeline. DMN is getting there but I am thinking of taking a break from it to polish In Search of Immortality as it needs less work doing.

I'm eagerly awaiting the re-release of both, this game is amazing and I can't wait to try more of your stuff but since your remaking em I may as well wait for the newest version :D
i'm also willing to try out future games ^^

I already tried 3 out of 5 of your games, I just downloaded the inmortality game, Reincarnation download does not work for me, says page unavailable/page not found or something, I don't mind starting all over again when the new versions of the games come out ~

and thank you for the congratulations~!
Hey Indra/Fomar, I just finished this game and I think it was pretty close to perfect. The writing (funny, unpredictable, and polished from the first line), the mapping, the art, the gameplay, everything was just great. I tend not to enjoy contest related RM games, but I especially appreciate what you did with this one structurally--the choice to make every fight unique really just changes the experience and makes it better. (The only one I've seen who's done something similar was Craze in Wine and Roses, which is an amazing game but I've really wanted to see what the approach would look like outside a dungeon crawler.) Two hours and there was never a weak moment, which is really cool, plus now I'm looking forward to the other games you've done as well.

Edit: also just played Dark Moon Night, and liked it a lot. It was really funny and had great characters just like Grumpy Knight. The gameplay (especially when it got almost dungeon-crawler-ish, which made it sort of the opposite of Grump Knight) didn't hold up as well, but........that ending! (I even recognized the character from Grumpy Knight and couldn't even imagine haha.)
On the contrary thanks, next time I update our site do you mind if I link to it?
I find it funny that the guy posting a mac port has a windows symbol for an Avvy :)

Props to you on porting it though.
