Generic RM2k3 RTP Gaming Fun!

I always wanted to make that game based on everything I enjoyed as a kid. This is the end result.

Hero's Realm creates a super-synergy of proactive features to create a gaming experience greater than the sum of its parts.

Lead four heroes and their teams against the evil forces of Mephistocles, the Lord of Demons in this retro-RPG adventure. Toggle between the four heroes as you explore dungeons, ascend towers, spelunk caves, save villages and defeat the forces of evil! Reminiscent of classic RPGs such as Dragon Quest III and Final Fantasy V, Hero's Realm is a fun romp in old-school RPG nostalgia.

-22 character classes (12 base classes, 4 hero classes, 3 secret classes, 3 master classes)
-TONS of game content and sidequests
-Classic NES-era and SNES-era RPG gameplay
-Great music
-Multi-party switching system (like Kefka's Tower in FFVI!)
-Multi-party tactical battles (at least 5 of them!)
-Massive world map
-Fun

The story is split into 5 chapters, with each of the first four chapters focusing on a new hero, and the 5th chapter bringing them all together.

Chapter 1: Won't Somebody Please Think of the Children?
Chapter 2: There is Something Fishy Going on...
Chapter 3: Land of the Rising Son
Chapter 4: True Calling
Chapter 5: The War on Terror

Man, that sucks. I'm sorry you lost progress.

Sometimes RM2k3 loses it's mind. That particular error usually means a skills does not have an appropriate casting animation associated with it. I also see that you are Ironized, which is a condition with a Reflect state applied to it.

I am *guessing* here but I think that maybe whatever skill the enemy used on one of the heroes, that hero did not have a casting animation set for the enemy skill, and RM2k3 probably does some stupid logic looking for it when that skill is reflected back to the enemy.

Hero's Realm has scripts?

Lost lots of progress ;_;

Your avi fits the post.
Awesome work, you can see a lot of effort went into making this. I'll give it a try when I'm not too busy :)

"some stupid logic", I like that and am not surprised it comes from you, Kentona.

My guess, 2k3 was pissed to be berated for not having a scripting feature.
And it was like "what so you guys have scripts? GUESS WHAT I HAVE TOO" *throws script error*

Unrelatedly, I can see what you meant when you said this burnt you out of RPG making.
This is sort of a compliment.

'Parently 2k3 tries to pass off its Events as scripts.
When my team gets into a pincer encounter where they surround the enemy(aka an "advantage"), everyone has a hard time hitting enemies no matter which row they are in. Is this intentional?

This is an issue with RPG Maker 2k3 I've noticed, and unfortunately it can't be fixed. I don't know why it happens, but the Hit % drops a lot for the heroes in that formation.
I killed the Shadowstorm (thanks to overpowered Huntress combos) before the the third hero showed up and the game placed me in control of a hero group. I walked north and the Child of Light vs Shadowstorm event activated again. What just happened?

Edit: I played out the battle and continued the story properly. This is quite a sad development...

Edit2: On new game plus, the Final Boss music plays during random encounters with squirrels and rabbits. Why do I find this incredibly amusing?
Alrighty! Time to check this one out!
Um, are you supposed to be able to get the Elite Classes (Sage, Champion, Joker) by just hitting the up arrow on certain classes when you choose a new character's class?

Not complaining - I like having the options available from the start - but it seems strange that the game doesn't tell you about it.

(Also, is Joker supposed to have no normal attack command? If so, what's the point in giving my Joker a weapon?)

Yes, this was intended to be a secret, but the cat is WAY out f the bag by now...

Also, the joker doesn't have a normal attack, but I think one of his random "goof-off" things is to attack with his equipped weapon. The joker is kind of, well... a joke. At least until later...

Hope I didn't step on your toes, master kentona!

Nope! That's exactly right. Jokers are a bit of a joke, but like I mention in the FAQ (I think), you can...
upgrade to the Daredevil class in chapter 5 without needing to have an Elfstone with a level 20+ (or maybe 25+?) Joker. imho, the Daredevil is the best class in the game!
I hate asking for help this early on in the game as I've just started. I'm playing as Zefiryn in the second chapter and I already found the object that is necessary to cure the illness in Kaybee and the starting town and now the baron tells me to cross the river to get to where they are calling the heroes. I also noticed the guy that runs away from you into the mining guild but the door is locked. The little stair way outside of the gate to the south has a door that is locked as well. The teleporter has a locked door and I'm not able to use that yet either. I'm wondering if I somehow missed something when I was down in the desert area.

There is a house that was under quarantine in Kaybee that is no longer quarantined after you cure the illness. Inside there is a family and one of them gives you the Thief's Key (iirc)
Holy crap I remember that house. I didn't catch that. I guess this means that I officially suck at video games.

Oh, and thanks. Alot of fun btw. Nice. Classic. Well balanced. Enjoyable.

Uhhhh.... why can't I find class master in the third chapter? It's not cool to play with 1 character when enemies cast spells that deal 60 dmg while I only have barely 90 health.
There is a sensei in the school that can find students for you to join your team, in the dojo in Vegeta. I think he's on the second floor.
i have to say this is fun bro thank u for making this game i give it a 10/10
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it!
