[Poll] Do you think RM2K/3 will ever die off completely?
Hah, well not exactly. I'll probably switch to VX Ace at some point when I actually end up buying it.
As for the graphics, because of my limited time I prefer lower resolution. It's easier and faster to make chipsets and panoramas this way. I also find certain charm in SNES-era RPGs. If I got more free time I'd definitely want to make something with higher resolution, but that's not the case...

It's been a while, RPGMaker.
Oh wow, you've been around :) i've been a passing visitor in most of those as well (or lurker at the very least), but i'm more of a one-board person myself. I started at Don Miguel's board and moved to gamingW. Now trying to make a new home here.
maybe we've met before, who keeps track of all these usernames ? :)

Those are shitty reasons. If those are your legit reasons, I'd rather you stop making games.
well considering I spend time 30 min/week in game making (average, give or take. Sometimes I get free time and motivation to spend a whole day. Whooo!) you could say I've already stopped making them.
I used to make stuff on Game Maker and would be able to these days as well, but I find it too much of a hassle.
If it's true that I can change the resolution in VX, I'd be willing to switch to that. I sorta vanished from these scenes at the release of VX, so I'm not familiar with it. XP I didn't like.

author=Pizzayou gotta good thing going. I'm liking bright colours! Also that fat bob in a suit looks great.Har har har
Shouldn't those pillars reach higher though? Now they are about the height of those characters while walls suggest that this room is higher.

sated, it looks fine. RTP already gives this retro-look, so simplistic design works well with it. To further improve your map, i suppose i'd make it a tad bit more random (you've got lot's of straight walls now as it is). Also add some details that grab the attentiom of the player. Something similar to those snow covered tiles you got there. Something to break the monotony of blue and white.
butbut really, i think it's fine. wouldn't mind playing that as it is, just some tips to consider..

Mini-Games
But you gotta remember that some of those minigames are in just for the cool-factor. FFVII bike-minigame was nearly a life changing experience for a 10-year old. It was cool man.
I actually bought FFVII for that snowboarding in the first place! :D My cousin used to rave how FFVII was the best game he ever played. So one day I went to a video game store for that. I was looking at the back case and found it pretty boring looking "awwww well at least it's got snowboarding even if everything else just sucks"

hello, i'm rather new member here as well. Trying to get back to RPG making habits too. What boards did you visit "back then"?

snowowl, those are awesome graphics. Shrine definitely gave eastern vibe so it's good you removed it.
i really like the look of the cliffs.

Do you ever have one of those days when everything just feels like :P
Sure. everyone must have days like that. I try not to stress such matters, no one but myself is bothered by such things. Those are the days I usually end up playing games mostly. .. or watch something utterly pointless because I never get enough energy to grab PS3 controller.. It's a good thing they're wireless these days. Walking up to the console would be inhuman task.
[Poll] How Much “Planning” Or “Prepping” Do You Do Before Starting Your Game(s)?
Back then, when I was still making stuff, I never planned much. I just kinda went with the flow and wanted to get something I could lay my eyes on.
These day, when I'm not making anything really, all I do is plan.
*shucks* ... neither of these really get the results I'd want :/
anyways, as far as RPGs go, I think everyone should at least plan some kind of skeleton for the story. At the very least where you want the story to go.
