AEROFUNK80'S PROFILE

There are two things I love: video games and writing. I've enjoyed writing stories since I was very young, and I'm an 80/90's kid, so my childhood was Atari, NES and SNES. I wanted to go to school for video game design, but that's not where life took me. When I discovered RPG Maker, it allowed me to take my two passions and fuse them together. I absolutely love creating fantasy worlds, writing the lore and developing characters. I do lack the artistic creativity and plugin knowledge, but I like to think I make up for that in storytelling. I love the old school RPG's where they gripped us with great stories: Final Fantasy 2&3, Chrono Trigger, Lufia and Secret of Mana to name a few. Tales of Yuria is my way to tell the first chapter of the world I've been creating for years.

I love hidden rooms containing special items and lore.
I put quite a few of those in my demo. Some hidden rooms, a couple places you can't reach until you get a particular upgrade. Thanks for commenting on my page, btw! :-)
This is the stuff I live for in survival horror games.

I want to say I have about 3-5 hidden locations. Did you try out the demo yet? :-)

Job Board Post Issue

OK, that did it. Thank you for that!

Job Board Post Issue

So, I'm not sure what I did wrong. I attempted to post something on the job board and used the format icons built into the site. Yet... it came up all jumbled. What did I do? I went and broke your site LOL Here's an example of my post:

My Job Board Post

INTRODUCTION:

I'm looking to write more and take on some side projects. I've been writing for over 20 years (unprofessionally) but enjoy creating dialogue, stories, and various lore. I created an entire world in my Tales of Yuria series: geography, races, religion, cities, kingdoms, etc. It's something I thoroughly enjoy.

I also focus on character dialogue and conversation, and there isn't a theme I'm uncomfortable with. I've done comical, serious, romantic, and scary. I'll even consider NSFW, but I will request your idea/concept first. I may reject an NSFW offer if I find the content too graphic or offensive.

WRITING SAMPLES:

Dialogue Scene
This scene occurs in my game Tales of Yuria 2 between one of the main characters, a warlock named Lacillia. She's been tracking down her mentor that was abducted by bandits in an area called Benham's Lake. She's finally caught up with the group, and her mentor is unconscious. The bandits are Elly (leader), Ruby, and Mornam.

RUBY: Wait! Don't hurt us! Our leader wants to talk first.

LACILLIA: I'm willing to settle this peacefully.

The bandit leader approaches the warlock, her eyes fixated on the pulsating scepter Lacillia holds.

ELLY: You know... nobody dares venture into Benham's Lake. Not since we've started occupying it. We finally kidnap someone worth our time, and he has an able-bodied companion to rescue him. Why is this never easy?

LACILLIA: Are you seeking an apology? I'm sorry...? I will need that man back. He's a grandmaster warlock and not someone you want to be trifling with.

Mornam runs up anxiously.

MORNAM: She's a warlock, Elly! That's gotta count for somethin'!

ELLY: I'm quite aware, Mornam. You and Ruby have told me this a dozen times. I'm attempting to strike a bargain with her, alright?

Lacillia takes a step forward. Elly, Mornam, and Ruby quickly move away.

LACILLIA: That's not an option. Either release him... or face your death.

ELLY: Now calm down. I never said you couldn't have him back. We just need some sort of... compensation.

LACILLIA: We're not striking a deal here. You really don't get it, do you?

A defeated look crosses Elly's face. Her lip quivers gently, and she stutters as the first few words leave her mouth.

ELLY: Oh, I get it just fine. You know what I was before I entered this line of work? A merchant. I used to travel all over Ostragen to sell my goods. I had a manor on a hill overlooking this very lake. Then King Darin passed, gods rest his soul, and that vile little serpent inherited the throne. I lost my merchant license, my family, and my manor. All in one day! King Rilyn saw fit to tax the hell out of me, and when I couldn't afford to pay his insane request, he took everything. My husband packed up his belongings and took our children somewhere up north. I haven't seen them since. Went all the way to Yurl, for all I know!

Lacillia stares at the bandit leader for a moment, flicks a piece of dust off her robe, and finally breaks the awkward silence.

LACILLIA: Sorry, I was listening, but I missed the part where you justify kidnapping an old warlock and then pawning his equipment off for some gold dragons.

Ruby steps forward. Lacillia rolls her eyes.

RUBY: I was part of a fishing crew. Made an honest living catching striped bass, salmon, and catfish off the coast of The Narrow Isles. One day our captain noticed a school of deepdwellers. You know how rare those are? How much gold they fetch on the market? We found it proper to catch as many as possible and sell them at our glorious capital. "We'll be as rich as thieves," our captain said. Wasn't lying, but then King Rilyn found out, and apparently, selling deepdwellers was illegal. Some ridiculous foreign import tax! He took all our coins and threw the entire crew into his dungeon. I spent ten years rotting away in that putrid place before I finally escaped.

LACILLIA: OK, story time is over. You're going to give him back, no questions asked. Understand?

Mornam stumbles forward. Lacillia sighs impatiently.

MORNAM: I was a builder!

LACILLIA: Gods help me...

MORNAM: Built the tallest stone towers in all o' the kingdom!

LACILLIA: Uh huh.

MORNAM: And... then a brick hit me. Right in the head. HARD!

LACILLIA: ...

MORNAM: Haven't been right since.

Codex/Lore Document
Iylo-tech was a multinational manufacturer and distributor of robotic technology founded in Boston, Massachusettes. It was comprised of four sectors: Iylo Toys, ARENA-bots, Med-tech, and their Home & Family division (Maid-o-matic, TARANA, Nanny-bot). It ranked among Business Elite's most profitable 100 companies as the 12th largest firm in the United States by gross revenue, and that ranking was predicted to increase further. Before the cataclysmic event happened, the company had announced a new division in Robotic Aviation, and rumors began to circulate of Iylo-tech working closely with the U.S. military on a classified project.

Any news about the lighting script and if it could be applied to battle maps eventually? If not, I was thinking that we could modify each battle map in Photoshop. The sprites wouldn't be affected / would have to be affected using another method, but that could be a start.

That's it for today :)
I'm about to go fight the armored Brute. Lookin' forward to it!

Oh, wow. This is some great feedback and love how thorough you are. I'll add all this to my list for the next update. I love your idea for adding more to the toxic and water bot-abilities. I'll definitely need to fix the Standard & Gunner-bot bug. Though...I do plan to allow players to have TWO bots in the full game. Just not in the demo LOL

I love your idea for the battle maps. I'm not opposed to doing those now. I can send you a message and the battle maps I'm using. Sadly, the lighting plugin creator hasn't announced that they'll be updating it to reflect in combat. They haven't worked on it for awhile.

Thanks again for the feedback. I just signed up for Steam's June Next Fest, too! So... I'm excited for that!

yeah the site layout and CSS is quite dated these days.

You could try

#game_header .right_column {
display: flex;
flex-direction: column-reverse;
}

??

Oh, thank you for that. I didn't even consider changing it myself. I'm not great with coding/scripting. That almost did it. Put download below the rating, but they're not over far enough now haha:

Download Button Location

I was thinking today how nice it would be if the "Download Now" button was located under your game's score/review. For my game page... the download now button appears right over my header. Granted... I do probably have a massive header compared to many, and I could easily update it, but I also feel the site would look a lot cleaner if the download button was along the right... further down from the Rating/Reviews. Just a thought.

Thanks for the tip. I fixed the Ring Menu by listening to the first computer that plays an audio file.
I've enjoyed fighting more enemies and really like to figure out optimal attack combinations between R3-M1 and the Bot. I like how upgrades are available fairly often and you don't have to grind for them.

I have 2 more bugs to report:

-While I was listening to that audio file in that room, one of Sagrim's dialogues came up, asking me what I thought of the minions. The emotion icons appeared and stayed on screen even after I left the room. I could answer and continue the conversation even without being in Sagrim's room.
I did meet him earlier but didn't get that conversation until now.

-I grabbed this loot box after the battle here, and this error message came up. Now it comes up every 4 seconds and pauses the game until I press Enter. What is this movie supposed to be? I searched through the movies folder but no file seems to bear that name.

Thanks for catching those, as well. I do know how to fix the first bug. I have a specific plugin that's causing it. I thought I fixed it... but apparently it's still happening on rare occasions. I'm going to just disable that plugin until I can get it fixed. Nothing major. Game will still play without it.

As for Sagrim... I thought I fixed him, as well. That's lovely LOL So, I'll get those 3 things fixed (the 2 today and 1 from yesterday). Thanks for reporting them! So glad you decided to play!

So, for combat. You do enjoy it? Do you feel there's enough variety, and you're a fan of the reaction effects and all that? I was worried I didn't do enough with combat haha Also... hope you've enjoyed the overkills... even though you know what to expect hahahaha

Anyway... going to work on all that now, patch and get the update on Steam. :-)
