The Last King of Hyrule

How about the king is POSSESSED by Ganon's spirit, and he tells Link to gather the Triforce pieces because only the Triforce can unseal the dungeon where Zelda is held captive. But it turns out the dungeon is actually where Ganon's body is sealed away, and as jackalotrun suggested, Zelda was locked in Hyrule Castle the whole time. This gives Link a reason to collect the Triforce pieces and explains why Ganon can't just do it himself and isn't actively trying to stop Link.
I think I like the idea of the King having Link gather all the Triforce pieces but then

Sounds good! So the first level should be Hyrule Castle then. I guess it could be at the center of Hyrule Field, with all the other sub areas branching off from it.

I'm guessing Lost Woods will be the first level, then? It would make the most sense, since it's the site of the first area and first temple in Ocarina of Time.
