post=148490post=144699Actually, by definition, Pixel Art is high resolution art made with pixels (by high resolution I mean 100x100 lol, depends on the REAL resolution), and Sprite is the shrunk, for character or BG purposes, version of it. Generally sprites are tile based, and Pixel Art is not. Well, It's kinda hard to explain, but yes, it is pixel art.
I'd have to wonder if that is pixel art, seems more like an elaborate drawing in ms paint.
EDIT ~ Now that I've finished reading the thread:
The two posts above me are freakingly AWESOME. =D
Uh, that's not pixel art actually. Pixel art = placing each and every pixel with intent. Everything you see on your screen is made of pixels but it's not all pixel art, is it?
There was a pixel art contest a few years ago where someone made a really nice work of pixel art, but was almost disqualified for using the "spray paint" tool in MS paint or something.
This was his submission:

Although he won, I think there are some elements of it not being completely a "pixel art."
Basically like Darken said... it's not actual pixel placing which = pixel art...

Chiptunes!
I was going to say Ducktales Moon when I saw this topic... but naturally tardis already got to it.
When I got to a gym I would just turn up the music and listen for a while.

What other RM games have inspired your projects?
Is it possible to make a skill similar to guard in final fantasy vii

REFMAP and Theodore.
Theodore's site doesn't host his graphics anymore... It looks like this though: http://rpgmaker.net/games/905/images/ http://rpgmaker.net/games/1332/images/ although I could probably find better examples of it if I poke around. I'm sure someone around has it.
REFMAP is typically disliked but it can look great if used in smaller maps like the maps drawn by YDS for this game: http://rpgmaker.net/games/1608/ (Seriously, YDS is the only person who actually uses REFMAP without it looking like crap.)
edit: this post is now an advertise of YDS's mapping
