Does it matter that we use the Christian cross in our games?
I replaced all the Christian iconography in the REFMAP tiles for Ara Fell, which was actually significantly more than I expected. I think this is more paying attention to detail than anything.
There is some merit in wanting to respect religious traditions by avoiding what they consider blasphemous as well, though that's not why I did it.
LockeZ, those first two analogies you gave don't work at all. Electricity would have been discovered by -somebody-. Arches would have been built by somebody. A cross isn't a property of nature waiting to be discovered. I would, however, argue that it's pretty lazy to use a medusa in your game as a random reference to Greek mythology instead of creating your own monster; but if using premade graphics is your only realistic option, I don't think anyone should fret over it too much.
It's a trivial detail either way, if you ask me.

[RM2K3] Transfer Player shows previous map before moving player?
It's the parallel process, I suspect. I've had a lot of issues with parallel processes behaving in unexpected ways compared to other triggers. Is that something you can change to autorun?
You can use a parallel process to trigger the autorun by turning on a switch in the conditional branch which activates a second page, set to autorun, on this event. I'm not certain this will fix the problem, but that's what I'd try if I were you.
edit: This is assuming the "wait" doesn't fix it. I've had a few issues with rm2k3 in which it really seemed like a wait should fix this kind of thing and it doesn't.

Thanks! Very flattering, Addit.
Incidentally, Caladium and I are trying to outdo Ara Fell as we speak.

We need to talk about the fan games here after what happened to the Metroid 2 Project
Yeah, but I do understand the whole passion project thing. And a non-Metroid AM2R probably wouldn't have garnered as much attention. And I also understand fan projects here on RMN because making your own graphics isn't realistic for most people, so rips or default stuff is your only real option.
But AM2R... it was built from the ground up. Can you really not be passionate about a game if you're not copying some of the maps from Metroid 2? Maybe you can't. I don't know. I briefly tried a Secret of Mana remake in RPG Maker, so I get the appeal. AM2R just seems like such a wasted opportunity though.

I have to wonder what AM2R expected. Why not just make a game that's similar to Metroid with your own story/setting/vision and then just sell it?
It seems inexplicably ridiculous to me to just ride on another company's IP when you can make the -exact- same game on your own with different music and a different main character.
Frankly, even though AM2R is fantastic, they got what they deserved. Just call it "Space Bounty Hunter" and change the main character graphics and music and not only can you distribute the game freely, you can sell it.

Yeah, I do. This is actually a mockup Caladium made, but there are a few things I want to change in that regard. I think the shadow on the headboard may need to be tweaked too so that the top part is lit up, but the vertical part is shadowed.

@Sated; That's about as nice as you can make rm2k RTP look. Nicely done.
I'd suggest adding some variety to the road, though. Maybe parts are covered with snow, and you can make it move a tile to one side or the other for some variety.
Anyway, here's some progress being made on Rise of the Third Power.
edit: This is 100% custom artwork, except for the panorama behind the window, which is a placeholder. It's meant to match REFMAP's style, but there are no REFMAP graphics in this screenshot.

>Having said that, if the goal here is to take a game and put fancier clothes on it, so be it.
I'm not sure what you mean by "fancier clothes" but I'm all but certain that's not an accurate way to describe this.
