The official English 2k3 version is out!
These features are phenomenal. Thanks, Cherry!!
I'm not sure if you have the desire, but I know DHM added in Monster animation a few years ago to the unofficial 2k3. Maybe he can eventually chime in on whatever code changes led to that becoming possible. ^-^

@Large: since there is no budget, the probability is low that this will happen in an update anytime soon because it requires a substantial amount of work and the 2k3 BS is still a bit black magic to me technically.

Cage, those portraits are pretty stunning. XD Are they original?
I like the font, too. It suits the retro aesthetic while still being crisp and sharp.

Does Anyone Remember GamingW? (Remembering Gamingw)

GW had a lot of problems, but it did a good job in encouraging me and others to do better.
You don't always get to chose to nature of the criticism you receive, as a matter of fact; you should be grateful anyone care enough to say anything at all.
If you're not challenged, you don't grow.
RMN initially brought to the table what GW often lacked - a sense of genuine rule-enforcement and civility. Hypothetically, it should have been the more ideal space for constructive feedback... but strangely, that hasn't always been the case.
What I can say (mostly) favorably about GW is that you could nearly always expect a reaction to your work. Whether that be positive or...terribly harsh, you could at least always learn from it. Everyone was incredibly passionate. We've seen repeatedly on RMN that people like Luchino etc, despite having many followers, have struggled to stay motivated. The downside to having everyone be 'friends', is that attention to game content can weirdly become cliquey or diluted.
Interesting to hear Ciel's perspective though. I think he's mostly accurate, although there were some prominent members who were genuinely rude or slightly malicious.

Nice work! But perhaps shade the tree shadow (and clouds) with more than one color/add more texture? The tree seems plucked out of a different graphical style than the rest.

Remakes Galore!

Well, the FFVII remake doesn't inspire much interest in me, as I've never wanted a remake. I'm pretty cynical about remakes in general (at least ones like this that have so much money and expectation attached to them). Square Enix still publishes cool games (like Nier), but some of the latest FF stuff has felt a bit soulless.
Though I would want an updated version of the original three Spyro games, for the ps4 or whatever. They just seem like perfect games for those value/retro bundles.
Agreed with both of these points.
FFXV was definitely the most "soulless" FF release...perhaps inevitably so after 10+ years and thousands of staff members.
In contrast, FF7 was the perfect storm of a small-team feeling, mixed with a multi-million dollar budget. There was more "art" and sense of atmosphere just in the Midgar maps than in all of FF15's world.
I could be cynical, but I think it'll prove difficult to recapture that visceral attention-to-detail and character nuance that the developers infused into the original, even in spite of the PS1's limits.
...
Spyro could make for a cool remake - the Crash Bandicoot release that dropped last month was actually extremely faithful and enjoyable to play. XD
