Dragon Quest IX
So I'm over a month late, but I finally picked up Dragon Quest IX. I'm still at the first town, but so far I love it. It's amazing how much they've changed aesthetically this game, but how they've still remained very conservative. Battles look great and are just as fast as the previous games. Graphics (and cut scenes) look a lot better than I thought they would. Enemies being visible on the world map works well.
My only complaint, and I'm not sure if it's just my DS or all DS's (or DQIX), but moving diagonal is really tricky for me. If I'm not hitting the D-pad in the exact right spot I'm not going diagonal. It's strange.

Does anyone else think facebook feeds, polls, and quizzes are the downfall of civilization?
post=94009post=94002Facebook is the world #1 social networking site, so that's kind of surprising. (Myspace, for example, is only big in the USA.)
Up until yesterday I didn't know what Facebook and Twitter were.
Sometimes it pays to not live in an English speaking country.
While this is true, it doesn't mean it's the biggest networking site in all countries. In Japan everyone has a Mixi account, but only people with some sort of foreign connection have Facebook accounts.
If the long convoluted post was humor, then it went over my head and good show.

Of the choices people have made, I really like Kefka and Gafgarion so far.

I dislike names that feel like they have absolutely zero etymology, and I hate names that are a blatantly obvious reference. It leaves me not knowing what to like.

Does anyone else think facebook feeds, polls, and quizzes are the downfall of civilization?
Of my 190 or so friends on facebook, I read regular status updates from about 10. That leads me to think "wow, these people are always using facebook! is this what it's come to?" What I don't think about is those 180 people who aren't doing that and are rarely ever using facebook at all. Of those 190 friends, about 4 use annoying quizzes and applications. Since those status updates are big and they do a few a day, it's really noticable and easy for me to think "wow, is this what people are doing with their time these days?" when it's only what 4 out of 190 people are doing. The "bad apples" just stick out.
Facebook isn't a downfall. People are still having face to face communication in droves. Facebook is a great way to share pictures with friends. I mainly use Facebook to share news articles with friends.

I have no problems with that. A few of my friends (who aren't really friends) do that quiz stuff, but as kentona said, it's really easy to ignore. Just click a few buttons and you never have to see it again.
Also, I disagree with that comic, but I can't put it into words that make sense. While disagreeing with it, I also love it to pieces and want to show it to the world, because it's awesome. Awesomely disagreeable.
