Gertrude by Hermann Hesse.
I've read it a few years back, and reading it again I'm finding even better this time around. Hesse has to be my favourite author. Just amazing amazing stuff.

Best game you personally don't like.
I had no idea people liked Xenosaga. If they do, then I'm with you. Game sucked hard. I never got through the first one.
I think people liked Xenogears, which also sucked hard. I think I got banned for saying that at rpg2knet 5 or 6 years ago.

I can only see people hating Final Fantasy one is they don't get that it's an NES game and not a PSX game (I'm assuming most people that hated it started with Final Fantasy VII).
I have fond fond memories with that game. I remember when I was 6 and I finally beat at Warmech. That was good times. I never found the masamune though until I replayed it as a teenager.

The "golden" era of PS1 console RPGs?
You guys sound like a bunch of old farts talking about the good old days.
And it's extra funny for me because your good old days were after my golden era, making me and even older old fart.
The PS2 era also had some good RPGs. I don't know anything about our current era'a RPGs.

all I remember is that near the beginning of the game when the enemy announced themselves that it was through a broadcast on all reflective surfaces. Water and everything...

The "golden" era of PS1 console RPGs?
The psone era was an era when many RPGs got translated in the US due to the popularity of FFVII. It was great to play more than Squaresoft RPGs and the odd other RPG that usually wasn't actually that good. It was a great era for RPGs, but since I'm a little older, my personal golden era was the SNES era. I do love the psone era though as well.
