Now that I think about it....

and what part of the story is calling someone on my phone gonna change?

I dunno, that's actually a pretty sweet idea. What better way to change the story than to PICK what characters are involved? Maybe you want the story to be all about the main character's girlfriend, or at times you feel sorry for his dad and want to speak with him about an event that's come up.. or maybe you just want to ignore the hell out of them and see how the story progresses from there. Maybe one of them kills themselves because you didn't call them, and that changes everything. If anything, that's a really in-depth way to give control to the player on what happens in the novel, which still makes it a "story" but it's still a game, too. Like one of those adventure novels. "If you want to take the left path, turn to page 32. If you want to take the right path, turn to page 84, blahblah.."

because I'm not sure if they would want to do what I want them to. Plus, if I want voice actors, they just act with their voice, they don't actually do what's in the movie.

I think you need to learn how to make Flash movies or something. You can import sprites and use them to make a movie that doesn't require people to even download it. RPG Maker seems too intricate a program for what you intend to do.

Damn, now I want fish..

Today I found my tricorn and have been dressed as a pirate since. My boyfriend said I was so adorable that he just wanted to bite me. I am concerned.. but flattered nonetheless.

What is everyone dressed as today?

The Screenshot Topic Returns

@Miracle - I don't think it looks bland at all, I think it actually looks rather nice! If it stuck out any more, it might draw the eye a bit too much.

@Kyrsty - Like Miracle said, the path looks a bit too weirdly cut at the edges. Other than that, I feel the rocks in the middle of the road are a little strange. Because there's only two of them, it's really noticeable that they are exactly the same. Maybe you need some different details like missing cobbles or bits of grass growing through the path to make it seem more natural or down-trodden.

Little things that can ruin your day?

The elder people here in Finland tend to be arrogant assholes (at least in this town) and doing that here would just result in neverending complain including "I WAS MOLESTED DURING WINTER WAR I HAVE THE HIGHEST PRIORITY" "DAMN YOUNG'UNS Y U SO BUSY."

I do of course have respect for the veterans, but not for people who think that they're the
most important person in the world because they had to go through winter war, or just because they're old and retired.

That's a shame, I find the old people here are always really nice about wartimes (usually they'll tell me about how they slacked off/banged various foreign women). They don't tend to be too arrogant, normally because they've retired to this town so they're pretty much happy here. I tend to move out of the way of old people because it's not really their fault if they're frail, or it might actually kill them to move three steps around me. It's the younger people I hate: the 16-40 year olds who got pregnant ASAP so they could wield the lazy man's wheeled-baby-carrying-device and they could be the most important people on the pavements. The people who think they are THE most important people in the world, and I am apparently inconsiderate for not moving out of their way. Those are the people I like to barge. :P

Little things that can ruin your day?

I agree with Nightowl. Children are infuriating and I frequently wish several of them "muted".. Every day, I walk past one street which I believe is the product of decades of incest resulting in hundreds of children swarming the street, getting in the way, at times on purpose to the point where I swore at one of them and they went away. I honestly almost punched one of them in the face this one time.

I guess it's not just children. Rude people, regardless of age, ruin my day entirely. People who take up the pavement (either by walking side by side or having a F***ING PRAM *silent rage*) have changed me as a person. I used to happily move out of the way, and I'd get a "thank you" sometimes, or they'd at least notice me and try to move from my way. Now they just ignore me, like they never even saw me coming. I've taken to walking straight into them. I like to barge into them, and it makes me feel incredibly happy doing so. Sometimes they recoil like, "did you really just do that?!" and sometimes they act cool and pretend it's no big thing. Either way, it's a much better way of dealing with it and actually improves my day instead of having it ruined. ^_^

I think this might actually count as animal abuse..

Creation Custom Crafts: Craving Criticism

I like the anatomy, and that smoking animation is definitely cool! It's just the walking that's made weird by one frame:

Walking

When he sticks his left leg out, his lower body shifts a pixel to the right to simulate one leg moving back and the other forward. I think if you pulled his left leg in by a pixel, it would get rid of the gap in his legs but it'd look much better. Not that I think many people would focus too heavily on how far apart he kept his legs during gameplay.. You could pretend he has a limp?

The emoticons are nice, really crisp and well animated! I just think they're a little bit dark, making it difficult to see some of the faces.. But that might just be me, I'm kinda blind.

Ethereal Heart Review

@Clareain - I'm glad it wasn't too boring or technical! :P

@Noelle - Not a problem! Despite my issues, I really think this could be a good game!

@Sbester - To be fair, I somehow managed to pick the short games or ones that only had demo releases. Once I start playing longer games, I won't go through them so quick..

What are you thinking about right now?

Steam sales make my bank account unhappy..

What do we remember?

Used to be a site called 'kamain.com' where I'd find lots of awesome games before I knew much about RPG Maker. That's where I found a game called 'The Slime Bent on Revenge', one of the first RM games I ever played. I have only ever been able to find that game here after the original site shut down.
