Ways to improve the community/maintain its awesomeness.

author=KingArthur
Outside of Videogames and Artistic License & Literature which harbor very interesting topics, most of the other forums have been home to one form of RMN Dramafestâ„¢ or another. Moronic Stuff has been an especially bad offender as of late with mostly destructive results.

You are honestly the most whiny, overreactive person I have ever seen in the RM scene. Such wanton destruction, raging across the digital landscape like plague and wildfire! I can feel the site coming apart at its seams from the terrible chaos unleashed within the dire walls of the Moronic forum! I cannot possibly grasp the notion that objection, dissent, and even moderate strife (disharmonious words typed on a forum) are sometimes required to build something better! When will the drama stop! This fragile old boat can only weather so many waves!

pop quiz: how frustrating is it when intelligent members of the community spend their time writing backwards joke topics built to be misinterpreted instead of constructive posts like the above

In all honestly the last thing I want is a back-and-forth but

c'mon man

E: although in all fairness it was better than "thanks rpgmaker.net" which is worth something if not much

i make my joke topics in moronic forum

i made my serious, easy to interpret topic in site feedback

what is so difficult about this?

Kent, stop being dramatic.
Seriously; I am not sure if you have ever had a phase like this on RMN before but honestly no one expected you to do any of the shit you did for us. You do all of this stuff because you feel it needs to be done for the site; and then you let faggot Ciel, of all people, get under your skin? That's just disappointing.

Hopefully the kentona we all know comes back soon.

lmao. you are awful and have no idea what you're talking about.

i wasn't targeting kentona specifically and bore him no ill will. i made a joke topic, which should not be a big deal for most of us after existing in the same communities together for over half a decade. i imagine karsuman craze and wip all objecting to, or at least being baffled by, the drastic changes kentona made without warning or consultation had more to do with this. if you knew anything about what was actually going on at this site the negative reaction kentona received to the mass staffing from multiple sides may have been more apparent to you. honestly i figured kentona was the only one with the initiative to actually do something around here, and in a sense i can see his maneuver as a bold and necessary move and seriously applaud him on taking action like that, but the two big problems with it were the seemingly arbitrary choices for staff and, perhaps more importantly the fact that it was done totally out of the blue. someone had to do something sooner or later to move the site forward, but maybe not like this. please go back to making vx battle formulas instead of trying to blindly pin your grievances on me.

2010 Misao Winners

most of the people I talked to had no idea misao voting was even happening. iirc previous years it was really obvious when it was misao time. seems like a reasonable move to have MISAO VOTING NOW VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE GAMES to be plastered across the front page or a mass PM to all users but I suppose those who didn't vote could be faulted for not seeing where the announcement(s) were posted. kind of obvious when 'rtp castle' beats alter aila for best atmosphere that there was a lack of awareness, thus leaving the door open for any game creator to spam the misao link to his or her gaia online friends and win xD. idk I am not complaining about who won because, you know, LAXIUS POWER SYNDROME, but I'd advise this event be made a little more visible next year. gomen >_<

Game Plan for 2011

Why would you want to remake it? It's already great as it is..

who are you to stop the apotheosis of an rm game

I want to finish a very specific game by the end of January. After that urge myself to work on Night of Marian better.

I'm really excited for Marian for 1 obvious reason and 1 secret personal reason...

Congratulations on the rainbow of new staff members

Don't get me wrong - unlike KA I do not give two shits about the state of RMN, or any game making community for that matter. I am, truth be told, just jealous of people who are able to happily live mediocre lives in which things such as amateur game development can take center stage. Like, people who no one (IRL) seems to expect anything out of.

Man what I'd give to be a westerner

posting on rpgmaker forum means digital topics are central to ones existence , this is the luxury of western(first world) civilization *tposses money (dollarbi[lls) into fresh american aircurrent s*

you, passive observer, thought you might learn nothing from this thread. but there it is. you have just gained valuable geographical insight. use it well *transforms into spooky bats (very spooky possibly spookiest bats) and flies away* song-green day time of your life

To be fair though, 90% of what goes on in RMN is user generated content; the Staff are just regulators. Besides discussing (and enforcing, and nobody really seems to like that, enforcing) policy, approving or denying submitted content (which is my main role as Staff along with Liberty and Chaos, and of course big boss Magi) and rearranging the front page and the Featured Game, an active collection of forum goers that actively write reviews, comment on content, stimulate discussion, upload games, download games, submit content, etc etc has more power than most individual Staff members..

lol i am sorry we disagree on the necessary function of the staff at this site. the 'regulation' required here is almost negligible so that cannot possibly be the purpose of having 23 staff. there is also no reason for a dozen people with access to the submission queue, it is more likely to be detrimental than helpful in any way. it is clear from the history of rmn's minimal and/or poor content generation that an influential, talented, motivated, and possibly even charismatic staff is required to invigorate the userbase and ultimately the generation of content. not doubting that the individuals selected are any of these things (welllllll maybe some of them lol!) but if the intended purpose of this mass staffing is 'approving subs' and 'making policies' aka 'doing nothing' and there is no intention to REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE, instead putting the entire onus on a lethargic, ignorant, or unmotived userbase which has never functioned as you so idealistically seem to think they spontaneously will begin to, then that is really a shame.

I like the part about how they complained about the staff not doing anything and then complained now that there are too many staff.

i did not even make this seriously i just wanted to lay down some 'newyears ribbing' for kicks, but yeah let's see if the new team of superfriends does anything -autoaccepts pokemon hunter 5 submission- jk

although it is kind of funny that the 'rmn bigwigs' i talked to about this surprising turn of events are just, blindsided by it. oh well...viva la revolution!

Best Anime guy?

heero is cool whatever dude
