I agree with this review, though it seems to have seen a revision before I was able to see it originally. From what I played (cheating even), you're forced to go between poorly mapped towns and empty dungeons for whatever reason with little more to look forward to than tougher monsters and more dialog that's supposed to enhance the game but falls tragically short of doing so.
I hate it when people try to justify slow walking speed through large areas with, "Well, it's how they did it back in the early 90s, so that's how I did it." The thing is, we -had- to back then. That was the default speed, which has been increased since then. Now anything below the new standard is painfully boring and mentally taxing, and seeing as how we don't have to pay to play Rm2k/3 games, we're more inclined to get rid of it and never take a look back.
EDIT: And those were commercial games that you had to buy. We'd be more inclined to sit through slow movement speed because of this.

I just played through the game and it cut off so abruptly, I was left shaking my head, wondering what I just got done playing.
