This is the problem with holidays in general. "I'll give you all the love I can because it's Valentine's Day." or "I'll deny myself for my family and those less fortunate on Christmas." People don't just disappear once the day is over. I can understand if it's a designated time of mourning, but this is openness and fellowship we're talking about here; it's not something we just wring out and be done with.

Luminescent Red Panda
Background:
One day a portal appeared in the hills of a neighboring country and from it shot out a small furry creature. When it rose, it shone like the sun filling the expanse around it with light. Whenever it gazed upon its own light, it smiled as though it were home again. It made its way across the countryside shining its light and it soon found its way to the Blind Macaw. Proud, it shone its light on the macaw but received no joy in return for the macaw was blind.
The panda grew curious and then sad when it realized the only other creature that it had met couldn't enjoy the brilliance of its own glow, so instead it opened its mouth and spoke horrible things as all it had known was pride in itself. When the macaw looked upon its soul's color with its aura, it was faint like the most cruel and selfish of all creatures and the macaw flew from it. Alone, the panda cried as it didn't understand that it was solely responsible for its own loneliness.
It chased after the macaw as it flew but never caught it. When it had worn itself out, it was reduced to a tired sorrow and wept to the bird. Hearing its anguish, the macaw turned back and flew down to the creature. While the creature's aura was still faint and listless, its tears were bright with color. The macaw knew it could be changed and spoke to it in the ways of compassion.
In exchange for the macaw's presence, the panda agreed to let its light shine not for itself but for the world. Soon the panda grew to be much greater than it was when it first arrived in the world and the color of its aura became the orange of its fur, never too bright but special in its own way.
