Your character could be the son of a scientist who worked for the government and stole the blueprints to a new war machine that later got scrapped due to the introduction of the Pacifistas*.

I think I might go with something like that. Maybe after reconsidering, dad decides he doesn't want to work for the government anymore, but since he's a genius and useful scientist, the people in charge capture him and ship him off somewhere where he's force to keep working. The kid gets his father's robot mansuit and goes on a quest to find out his whereabouts and break him out. Sounds good?

And by the way, I enjoyed your wall of text. I am a bit familiar woth One Piece, but my knowledge of the universe is a bit lacking, so that was actually pretty interesting.

CyberDagger, what have you got? Want to show us your ideas/sketch?

Yes, I want to show you that. Can't scan rright now, but expect it later.

Guy, you could totally bend light too so that it doesn't refract off you or whatever and render yourself invisible!

This would most likely render you blind as well, but who am I to shatter dreams...

Invisibility would draw out the worst in us, I'm afraid. And that's part of what makes it so appealing.

Just out of curiosity, how long has she been drawing for?

sprites for a new game, need feedback

They still remind me of phalluses...

Anyway, stop adding stuff. Do not add any other element to that image until you fix the grass. It's awful. The rest is actually not that bad, and you can make uneven surfaces. So do that with the grass. Make it look like there are actual blades of grass there. A bunch of lines doesn't work, and it contrasts too much with the more realistically shaded trees. No ammount of extra objects is going to hide the fact that your grass is horrible, so fixing it should be your first and only priority for now.

Fix the grass, and we'll talk about the rest.

Technology talk.

So yeah, I'm going to need some help figuring out where my character might be from then, since I'm making a mech pilot.

And I've been making some sketches and it's starting to look really cool. So far it's looking like a sort of goofy hybrid between the Egg Walker and the Lagann, with a bit of Sword Strike Gundam thrown in when it comes to the hands.

It does sound good, except that it's an exact copy of another guy who is apparently joining! XD!!
He's ex-marine, dual pistol, etc! Bwahaha... Sorry, les terribles.
Jaycobb is his name. Here's his profile: Jaycobb!

Speaking of Jaycobb, we've been talking, and I think our crew will be Revolutionaries. Two reason; we have a reason to fight for justice, as well as marines - and the Revolutionary population on Bon Voyage is 3. Compared to the rest, that's terrible. Let's change the world!

Well, crap! I hate when this happens. And I was really looking forward to putting this character to use...

I could change some things around, and end up with a character that is similar yet with differences that could be played up. Those small contrasts, if focused on, could be used intrestingly. While my character prefers pistols, he's a generalist. (And those pistols were supposed to be semi-automatics from the start, which can contrast with Jaycobb's revolvers.) I could drop the past in the marines (though I wonder where the military training would come from then), drop a bit of the trick shot theming and focus more on the Woo-esque gun fu, perhaps change the weapon of choice from pistols to SMGs. (Though I like the pistols. I could play up the generalist side a bit more, though.) I could even tone down the dual wielding and have him fight only with just his main gun, only pulling out the secondary in particularily stressful situations.

Basically, I'm playing up the contrast between a western style gunslinger and a martial artist with guns in the style of heroic bloodshed films. And awesome could very well ensue iss they find themselves fighting back to back.

If that doeasn't work out, there's always the mercenary with huge sword and mecha-man (imagine a Gundam in human form) concepts that lost to this one. I could choose one of them and work it up a bit more.

One Piece Role-Play

I'm thinking of making a gun expert. Possibly ex-marine. Is skilled with all kinds of guns but prefers dual pistols. Does all kinds of crazy stunts by intentionally ricocheting bullets with great precision. Searching for a gun maker rumured to have discovered how to make a gun that can kill anything, even a god.

Sounds good?

Turns out the girl didn't even care about drawing.

Color me not surprised...

He can still draw very well and can spend months without drawing anything and still be as skilled.

My envy for him is unmeasurable. Seriously. I spent a while without drawing and my skills hit rock bottom once I resumed. I keep beating myself up over it.

Okay. Once I unbusy myself I'll go read all the rules.
