I was DREADING the tutorial level but it wasn't that bad and was easy to just blow through. First level was decent - some awkward coin placement and uninspired flowers but otherwise a good first level. Some strange bush placement. Overall a semi-decent first impression.
Second level is a little busy from a visual perspective - and the wood blocks kinda look a little strange "embedded" into the grass tiles - but it's cool overall.
I'm still not a fan of the tiling in the "alt" Mystery Castle. I'm really, really nitpicky about the tiling in my levels, to the point where I'd rather just redesign the walls in the SMB3 area so that the SMW area could use strictly stone blocks - But I guess it's a cool concept and I get where you were going with it.
I'm also not a fan of the use of metroid pipes in Fire Temple Redux - it clashes with the surrounding tiles and just, ugh, I dunno. I'd rather just use regular grey pipes, to be honest. Also, I'm disappointed that you made the secret in the 2nd to last room a little too obvious. I even foreshadowed it with a nice little frozen coin block and everything. The flower pacing was fucked to all hell in that level, as well. I liked the flower near the checkpoint - required a bit of puzzling to figure out. I feel the level lost a bit of something in the edits.
But it is what it is. Hopefully people like the changes (and the game as a whole). Everyone worked hard on it :)
I'm kind of a Mario purist. I hate yoshis, fancy hub worlds, clown cars, etc. But hey I guess we had no choice given the logical progression (SMB3, SMW, SMW2) so hopefully people like it.

should I do a playtest? would it be even worth it? you know I'd find things I'd want to change and I know it's really late in the process
