RMNverse Battledome 5 - COMPLETE!

Whooo! Congrats to TUC!!! And thank you Dudesoft for hosting, this was a lot of fun!

Ebeth Does the Draw

@CashmereCat

Aaaah thank you! Super crazy is one of the best compliments I've received on my art.

Gameplay is definitely my weak point- I'd love to do some sort of collab like that in the future too! Myriad Cypher is a bit like that but due to the nature of the game it is fairly limited graphics.

Art dump time! School stuff:

[Poll] Game submission was rejected, I sense a conspiracy

I can't believe the Illuminati uses its resources to stop people from posting game pages.

Music

I love the titles of your tracks and they all sound great! I don't know how to explain it in proper musical terms but they have lots of twists and turns and they're very engaging. Osaka Konnichiwa is probably my favorite.

[Release Something! Day XIII] Feedback Thread

*Cracks Knuckles* Okay feedback time!

Liberty- Sample Maps:
Wow! That's a lot of improvement over the maps that come with ace. You really made the regular town map look organic (as opposed to how stiff the basic one is) and like people would live there. You have a really good eye for detail. I'm assuming Map 2 is the cave entrance because that's the map it most closely resembles but it looks more like a cabin or shack entrance than a cave.I don't use sample maps but these look like they'd be very helpful for people who do.

Unity-Battlers:
The battlers look great. I love the shiny shading on the smiles! I really like the movement of the little flames too!

DarkFlameWolf - Video of Amulet of Fate:
Holy hell! That's an impressive amount of work! Personally, I'm not super into classic rpg's but I know that there are a bunch of people who are. With 10 years of work going into Amulet I wouldn't give up on it now! Take a break and step away from it for a bit if you need to but definitely continue. If you want to gauge interest maybe release a demo?

Ratty524-Mog Expansion:
Very nice! I really liked your MOG pack and I'm glad you're still working on it. Are you planning on eventually making a game with these?

Housekeeping- Music:
First off- I love the titles of your tracks. Secondly, they all sound great! I don't know how to explain it in proper musical terms but they have lots of twists and turns and they're very engaging. Osaka Konnichiwa is probably my favorite.

Merlandese - Music:
I really love this track. My music is set to loop automatically and I've just been listening to it loop for the last 15 minutes. Definitely fits the mood of the game.

I'll post more feedback later.

Alterations: Part 03

Oh this is really exciting! I love the new art!

I'm even more of a space-case than normal right now.

I recently learned that if you're trying to fall asleep and you don't after 20 mins you probably aren't going to anytime soon so its best to get up and do something to help shut down your mind. Looking at any sort of digital screen or any type of exercise will wake you up though, its best to read a book.

@Ebeth: I got a score of about 190 in the shooter mini-game. If that helps. Though, really, I don't think that should even be a thing you should be worried about.

Thanks! The players score will affect things in game so it does matter!

Everything Will Be Fine
I really love the graphics and setting. The intro cut-scene was hella cute. <3 The main character and story telling was interesting enough that I was kind of sad the demo ended so soon. I'd like to get to know more about our protagonist and what exactly she's doing in space all alone. ;)

The scrolling shooter mini game was a nice touch, but I was confused by it at first. I figured out that the character was just playing a game fairly quickly, but a prompt asking me whether I wanted to play the game or not instead of just jumping into it would have been nice.

The game randomly crashed when saving. It didn't tell me why, it just said RGGS has stopped working and will close now.

That puzzle at the end took forever! ...because I'm terrible at such things! Only gripe is that it wasn't immediately obvious I had to press esc to exit the puzzle screen after I'd beaten it.

All and all, really just some minor complaints. You seem to have a great start with this project. I'll be following this one for sure!

.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll make sure to have more prompts and better instructions in the final ver. Also that's really weird that it crashed when trying to save. I'll have to look into that.

Anyone else have this issue?

Some of the graphics look awfully familiar, but since I liked the them the first time I saw them, that's no biggie.

(They will be switched out by the end! Probably.)

I've never been fond of that 9 square sliding puzzle type but this one wasn't too difficult it took me a few minutes to step myself through the moves I would need to make but then it was done. I understand that some people have problems with this one but is it random though? That would explain I think why it was easy for some and not others. I actually didn't mind the version I got, it hit that middle ground for me. Through you should be able to exit out of it, after all you can step away from the panel to look at the schematics, being locked in until you solve or have to reboot isn't ideal.

It does randomly shuffle! I'm thinking about adding a way to see what it should look like as well as a way to skip it entirely for people who dislike sliding puzzles or have a hard time solving them.

I got 512 on the shooter, it was so old school! Is that just a filler or will your score have some impact on her survival?

It will have some impact! Players will need to get a certain score on it, which is why I need to know everyone's high score.

Why did you change the star scheme from blue to orange? I know she's going through an emergency, but that would hardly change the colour of the space between the stars, unless the emergency lights are creating a filter? That would work.

I'd been working on this project in my color theory class. One of the prompts was harmony/discord.

It is supposed to be like the lights a creating a filter though! It's also to show a change in emotions/atmosphere on the more metaphorical side. Honestly I'm not 100% sure if I like it (or any of my color schemes for that matter) but I really want to experiment with color and get out of my comfort zone.
