Thirty something year old long time rpgmaker lurker turned semi active rmn poster in it for the long haul on a game he started as a teen ager. I'm also married, a Dad, a high school Philosophy and Theology teacher with a PhD from the University of Oxford, a committed Christian, and a writer (see my twitter).

The Cerebral Symphony
I've finished the bulk of the coding of TCS chapter 5. Now I just need to make item drops and code the battles. Christmas release is a real possibility, people!
Forever's End Review
Very interesting review. Great use of screenshots. Don't forget FFVI as well though! FE really reminded me of FFVI too: an ensemble cast, each with their own unique skill set, where multiple protagonists are rotated and become the different POV character at different times, including with branching paths.
The writing clearly gets better as it goes. It seems like Nico started the game when he was younger, and the quality dramatically improves as the game goes on. I take your point about the attempted rape scene--another classic instance of the immature male bias in geek culture.
I think the game deserves more stars though. It's a few years ago that I played it, but I still have fond memories of it which stand out, particularly of the characters and set pieces from later in the game, and I look forward to playing it again. A game like that would get more than 3 stars from me.

Lol. It's coming Zadok! Not too long to go now. In any case it has to be done by the end of this year as my wife is having a baby in December, so I won't have any more time for game making, at least for a while!

Someone may have mentioned this, but can you use the CharasProject rmk2k3 sprite generator? Can give you sprite mashups with their own palettes that look nothing like any copyrighted.

Congratulations on finishing the novel! That cover at looks solid, but the product blub might benefit from some tightening. It feels more aimed at parents, and I'm not sure parents are going to point their kid towards a serialized online novel. Or that a middleschool kid will then read it.
There are still plenty of adults who read YA (I do. Because the market tends to favor style over substance in American YA, that style is usually really strong), but they're going to need something to differentiate the story from the tons they've already read. At middle-school age, a bunch of kids falling into a fantasy world is the coolest thing ever. At twenty or thirty, it's too familiar. Too easy to skim past.
I'd say, take what's weird about your setting, what's distinctive, grab that and write it as a narrative. Write it like you would the first few lines of a story, where you need to make that hook sink in deep. Then follow it with a line or two about your credentials.
The note that it's fantasy written by a philosophy and theology PHD is grabbing for an adult, and the uniqueness of the world should be a good hook for anyone.

Congrats on the job! I happen to be one of those "handful of people" who actually care and I'm happy you are still willing to work on this game.
Life happens and I personally understand when you have other responsibilities to attend to, other than a hobby. I'm looking forward to finishing this game, but at the same time I'm glad that everything is working out for you in real life.
In short, don't be sad for doing what you gotta do.
BTW, I have your ebook but haven't had a chance to read it yet due to WORK.

It is with deep sadness that I must write here to say that TCS will not be ready for this Christmas.
Probably only a handful of people care, such as raikenjenova, my close family, and maybe some of my subscribers, but I thought I would notify you anyway.
The reason is that I have recently started working as a secondary school (high school) teacher of Religion, Philosophy and Ethics and I just don't have any spare time to work on it.
It is close to being done though after some work this Summer. I'm hoping that over Summer 2017 I will have a chance to finally get this game finished. I am not giving up on it.
The target completion date has been pessimistically set for Christmas 2017 for a while, so I guess I'm officially recognizing that now.
