FAENON'S PROFILE

Thirty something year old long time rpgmaker lurker turned semi active rmn poster in it for the long haul on a game he started as a teen ager. I'm also married, a Dad, a high school Philosophy and Theology teacher with a PhD from the University of Oxford, a committed Christian, and a writer (see my twitter).

More will come, but I might be slowly update it as the time being due to my job and marriage things.

Seriously, I dunno what to say, you're really making my day, brother! Thanks a lot!! :D

Hahaha. Just seen this post, raiken. Your written English is still improving, but I think I get what you are saying! Your post has made my day too bro! Really looking forward to watching this video. Keep on going with your job and marriage things! Many thanks :)

Forever's End

Dear NicoB,

Your game was really fun to play. Please could you finish it? You need an outlet from your job, don't you? Wouldn't it be fun to make your own primary artwork rather than exclusively focusing your efforts on let's playing the artwork of others?

Best wishes,
Faenon

I actually thought your handle might be a reference to that.
Nope, just the Magic Card (boy am I a cultureless swine).

Tolkien isn't my cuppa in terms of fantasy fiction (see above game of thrones reference: maybe when I tire of my Edea avatar I'll grab a Melisandre one). I recognize his seminal influence in effectively creating the genre of Dungeons & Dragons, but I don't enjoy his writing because it's not very good (I'm talking about the sentence to sentence paragraph to paragraph craft of writing stuff, not the world building or myth making). Still good to know, I like my names to have as many layers of meaning as possible.

I will try to review The Cerebral Symphony in the next two weeks now that I have an apartment.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Magic card was actually subconsciously or consciously influenced by the episode from LOTR, to be honest...

I respectfully disagree with you about Tolkien's writing. It may not use the tricks of more contemporary fiction, but I actually think he is a wonderful prose stylist. Granted, he uses lots of archaic idioms and there is a lot that is just describing trees, or crags, or valleys, or other features of the landscape, but I do think his prose is beautiful. I think it's particularly beautiful if you pay attention to the sounds of it, which roll of the tongue like poetry--an opinion I've formed first-hand, as I've read the whole thing (and The Hobbit) to my wife. But of course you may disagree.

Congratulations on finding somewhere new to live! I hope you enjoy TCS, and I'm looking forwards to the review :)

I will enter reviewing The Cerebral Symphony into the list of things I intend to do. But as that list currently includes "find a place to live", you can imagine it's pretty far down it.

Also...gandalf?

Thanks! Go well with finding somewhere to live!

In LOTR, King Theoden pejoratively nicknames Gandalf 'Stormcrow' because he brings chaos with him wherever he goes. I actually thought your handle might be a reference to that.

I don't know what I did wrong. I selected the dark option, but the game let me take a step before actually switching my personality, and then I got stuck in this event like this.

Sorry about this. Thanks for the bug report. I have a common event that I use to disallow movement in cutscenes, but I must have forgotten to trigger it in that scene. Is that the scene where Ivan is going into the Corporation, after the first mission? I will fix. In the meantime I am afraid you will need to go back to your last save (hopefully not too long ago?) and play back to here, then wait till after all the dialogue and personality changing has finished till you move. Apologies.

Hello! Long time no see! Sorry I was busy with these real life stuff and gonna get married on end of this year xD Had a lot of things and work to do and rarely getting on internet qwq
I will try to do this chapter 5's LP in a short while.

P.S : I am not dead yet! (/O_O)/ just lately I am stuck on a hardcore game called real life Q_Q which is totally hard for meeeeee

Thanks a lot! xDD

Hey raiken! I'm so glad you're not dead!

Wow, congratulations on the engagement!!! Marriage is awesome, I recommend it.

No pressure about the LP, you have lots more important things going on. I just hope you can enjoy finishing TCS sometime, even if you don't LP it, as I know you've been looking forward to it ;)

Take care!

[Review Request]

Name: The Cerebral Symphony

Link: https://rpgmaker.net/games/2693/

Status: Complete

Genre: Sci-fi/fantasy/drug trip/FFVI

Estimated length: About 9 hours.

Small description: Brad, a jock, trips one day (at a party, we can only assume), accidentally plunging himself into the hallucinatory world of The Cerebral Symphony where he meets a guy called Ivan, who you might wonder is a human metaphor for repressed teenage angst. Includes elemental crystals, an evil villain trying to take over the world and a cast of oddball companions.

Special requests: The single review currently up for this game is for the DEMO and is from years ago. I'm looking for a comprehensive review of the full game. Thanks!

The Cerebral Symphony

A bit late, but the latest version of TCS is now up. This one has some more edits based on Kumada’s feedback and some significant structural changes (try it and see!).

This is the definitive complete version of TCS. I’ve now embarked on a writing mentorship with a UK literary consultancy, so I need to need to leave it alone for the moment. I probably won’t add any more updates for quite some time.

If you’ve not played TCS all the way through…now is the time!

If you’ve played TCS and liked it, please consider:

-letting me know
-posting your feedback
-posting a review (currently it still only has one review, for the DEMO, from years ago)
-nominating me for a 2018 Misao!

Thanks! Enjoy the game!

P.S. Has anyone seen raikenjenova? I’m beginning to think that he’s actually died in RL (serious), which makes me very sad :(
