I've been using RPG Maker for quite a long time... But I've switched to Ren'Py.

I can create scripts, but don't expect me to be as good as Yanfly or Moghunter!

Yeah I'd like a new SMBX event too.
But not for the same reasons.

I've only participated in two events: a level contest where I did something really boring and with many level design mistakes (ranked 16th / 20) ; and Yoshi's Archipelago. My jungle level in that one was decent but the ice one was too short to be interesting.
This would be ideal to get better at SMBX.

A cat in Ghost Town Review

Oh that's a nice score!
(I can say that my mission "Getting a better feedback for my game compared to 50 Days" is now completed.)

Time to give my opinion:

I recommend you to check if you have the RTP...I didn't and the game crashed on the first combat (on the first attack!)

Oh no... I screwed up AGAIN the compiling! I was really sure it'd work without any problem. I think I really should check some tutorials on how to export properly my games.

There's also a guy that lets you increase the difficulty of the encounters (from 1 to 4), letting out characters earn more money by fighting more and/or stronger enemies. Nice!

At first, I wanted the game to be a very classical RPG with more towns, more places, etc. But the balancing would have been harder.

Unfortunately, while charsets and portraits are nice, mapping is instead not as interesting as the rest, the map is quite simple and bland, but ok, this was made for an event, anyway I expected a bit more.

Well I'm not surprised for the mapping. Abandoned town means empty places. I could have added some vegetation but I was so afraid to be out of time I've put aside the mapping.

Kill the Cutie

News of the week (1 day early):

Final test and last touches.
I still have to finish my game to see if my texts don't cut the window but it should be playable anyways. Also, I'll be careful about balancing: the beginning may look a little repetitive.
(Currently beaten boss 1 with lower stats than advised in half-hour but it's still possible to win)

Kill the Cutie

News of the week:

I was afraid to get out of time due to IRL constraints. But these last 2 days were quite productive and I'm getting confident.
The RPG genre was definitely chosen in addition to the horror. A NPC in Ghost Town will propose you to change the difficulty of encounters between 4 levels. A harder level will make you earn greater XP and money. Money will allow you to buy drinks that definitely increase your stats. The key of the game is to get a high enough level as well as stats in order to get a chance to beat the final boss.

About the battles, there's no need to be complicated. Sophie and Damian both have 8 skills: target head (high damage but low accuracy), target body (always hit but low damage), target legs (may decrease Speed if hit), target arms (may decrease Strength if hit). All of these skills have a "all enemies targeted" variant. The heroes don't have MP.

Kill the Cutie

News of the week:

Not too much work honestly.

After Sophie sees her cat going through her mirror, she follows it and arrives in her bedroom. However, she understands she is in a parallel universe as she discovers a beaten Damien who starts having an anxiety attack when he sees her.
(P.S: The voice clip for the anxiety attack was made by yours truly.)

Sophie manages to return to the real world and asks the real Damien to come with her. The game would be a RPG, but with not too many battles.

Sophie and Damien return to the parallel world. They find a whip and a sword to defend themselves.

The sis and bro explore an abandoned village... that I'm currently mapping.

Coraline is one of my favourite movies!! I like your game already lol. I also thought of doing something similar to coraline but in the I came up with something else. And about Damien's room I love the details tbh
Edit: Does Damien have acne?

Yep. I manually added it when I've created the portrait with a generator. Same thing done to the charset.

Kill the Cutie

News of the week:
I have the plot. If you have already watched the movie Coraline where a girl goes to a parallel world ; you should be familiar with my game.
Sophie is a young girl whose cat went through the mirror in her bedroom. That mirror takes them to the parallel world which is a perfect copy of the real world. But there's something wrong there...

I'm not really sure if I would turn this to a RPG or a puzzle-horror game.

Teaser:

Damien is Sophie's older brother. Totally a weeb.

Kill the Cutie

Of course I'm signing in!
What I've created for 50 Days of Representation was rather bad compared to others. I've watched Lib's stream and I was so embarrassed I could hide under my bed. I don't want to stay on a huge failure.

Now it's time to think about the theme...
