FRUEBIS'S PROFILE

Greetings! I'm Fruebis. I am an introvert who enjoys gaming, drawing, and game design. However, when it comes to game design, I find that I make a game to learn more about game design, and once I've learned what I can, I lose interest.
Currently, I'm working on a game called Social Interactions. I started it a few years ago, but stopped when I hit a wall in the battle design. I've broken through that wall in my head, but... I've yet to actually figure out how to make it work in an RPG maker system.

Nice effect! I also like the mushrooms, are they custom made?

Happy Birthday

My head... all that problem solving... This was such a lovely game, though! Every time I'd talk to someone, I'd say, "They're the murderer!" and every time someone would give an alibi 'proving' someone innocent, I'd go, "What?! But... But they're the killer!" I never knew the end! And not knowing the end is the best part, of course!

World's Dawn

I love this game! The music, characters, and story are so lovely, and I have two characters I've been playing as since I made it to autumn on one of them. Quick question, though. I've seen characters in the same style as your characters. Are they made by someone? is there a specific program or something you use? Thanks!

A Few Current Game mechanics and progress report

May I just say that I love your art style? It's gorgeous! I've never used the battle system for 2k3, but I'll assume it's pretty bad, which makes it a good thing that you're changing it! While I'll admit I don't want to, I can wait for you to get finished with the game before I scamper off and play it. Quoting myself, it's always better to have a wonderful game that took far longer than expected to make, than be stuck with a sub-par game that took less time to make.

Quick time events instead of battles

Conditional branches would likely be the key.

1) You show picture

2) Player can press button at any time, but it will only do something when picture is on the screen.

3) When player pushes button this happens, or if picture goes away before... this happens.
No timer needed, just wait a certain number of frames.

In theory it looks like it might work.

Alright, then. Sounds like the best approach.

Just made a DDR/Threatrhythm game about zombie battles

Interesting mix, there.

Quick time events instead of battles

Hello again, all. I'm making a zombie battle game- one of three projects because I get boooreeddd- and was wondering if there was a way, other than pictures, timers, and events, to create a QTE. Reason why is, I could have the characters duke it out with a zombie hoard, but I think it could be a bit more realistic- due to the zombies having to punch you as their attack turn, because if they bite you, you're dead- and much cooler to simply give a quick, "Press X" or, "Move Right" to attack and avoid the shambling beasts. Is this possible? I know I saw something similar in a battle script once, where you did a QTE to activate skills.

Unlocking new weapons as you level up?

What program?

Rpgmaker VXace.

You could try changing their classes to a class that gives them the ability to use the new weapons.

I tried that with another game a while back. It took out all their known skills...

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=qJQxcTduThis script lets you add a permanent state to an actor while a certain skill is learned. Make the state have 0 priority and no icon so it's invisible and give it weapon proficiency as a trait.

I'll look into that. Thank you!

Unlocking new weapons as you level up?

Hello there! I'm trying to figure out how, if it's possible, to unlock new weapon types as you level up. For instance, 'Maggie' is a ranger, so she uses bows to fight, but when she reaches level 10, she can use daggers as well. I would simply copy the dagger-type weapons and paste them into the bow-style weapons, but if 'Clara' uses daggers, I would want her to be able to use them too. At the same time, I can't simply add daggers to the weapons 'Maggie' can use, because what if she gets a dagger before she reaches level ten?
I've tried to figure this out manually, but I can't manage to. If you know how to allow certain classes to use specific weapons after they reach level X, then let me know.

Battleborn: Deathlock Arena [Awaiting Transmission]

I guess you could say that Mirro is going to have to reflect on their defeat.
Aha. You're cute... Speaking of, I haven't heard anything, so am I dead?
Edit: Oh. Well, the kitten lives. Yes kittnes! By the way, well done. I dislike being referred to as a madman, but I'm a ghost now so... Myeh. I kinda liked reading my inescapable demise...

Touhou - Wandering Souls

This game is so lovely! I mean, I've been a fan of Touhou for a while, but I was quite worried that, when trying a game like this in which the fighting style is completely different, I'd find that I didn't like it quite as much as the actual games. I can honestly say I might like it better. I'm giving levels reruns so I can achieve all the souls, and I'm enjoying the fact that I look at something and go, "I bet I can get up there by using X, or by dashing from Y." and instead of it just being there as another platform an enemy had been on, I get rewarded with something. It truly brings out the adventurer in me. And then there's the story line, which I can say sounds a lot like an actual story from an actual game. Finally, the thing I find funny is that sometimes I'll see a sprite an RPGmaker original, and instead of going, "oh, they reused that." like I will with other games that consist of mostly non Rpgmaker graphics, I go, "Oh hey! I remember that tile! what clever use of it!"
Overall, wonderful game. I look forward to playing more of it.
