What are you thinking about? (game development edition)

I'm currently double-checking some "mission complete" and "advance plot" switches to make sure that I remembered to add all changes to the world that are supposed to take place once those switches are activated. I'm always paranoid of scenarios in which I forget to change a certain event or NPC's appearance or behavior based on a mission or plot event, and then the world becomes a confusing mess where NPCs keep yelling at you to do something you've already done because I forgot to add a single page to a single event (or ended up adding a page with the wrong switch).

This is literally the most freaking basic thing in RPG Maker ever, but it's the thing I'm the most paranoid about. There's always the chance I do something wrong and the player ends up softlocked for good, or a situation in which an NPC comments about how awesome their best friend is even though they're supposed to have died in a plot event. That's all coming from a guy whose project involves a ton of RM2K3 CMSes made from scratch (most of which I still didn't show because I think they're rather ugly).

Trailer Drops This Sunday!

I've watched the most recent video on your channel, and the more I see footage of this game, the more I love it <3

Thank you, tale, this looks nice :) However, I need something that looks more baby-like. I elected to make the sprites myself, and I'm getting some help from a friend of mine that's better at this stuff than I am.

Also @LockeZ, believe me, it makes sense for the world I'm building. Hopefully the game will turn out good enough to warrant a quick playthrough in the future :D

Does anyone know where I can find good baby alligator character sets for RM2K3? I'd hate having to make my own, as I'm particularly inept at pixel art.

Slime Village and the Mysterious Stream of Water

Aww, is this dead? I just found this project page while being creepy and stalking users randomly browsing, and this looks like it's way up my alley. I really like the concept and the presentation. Do you guys ever intend to continue this?

Uh, if not, can I have the link to the jam entry you guys mentioned?

Blind-
For that serene location I think the higher saturation lends itself well. Looking good.

Momeka- I love the little battle window..im a sucker for menus and bars and stuff so this is doing it for me.

Wip- thanks! I just followed you on Twitter - any other RMN ppl let's link up on there.

I've been locked out of my old RMN account(dookie/roach714) for like a year and still never got that sorted out. At some point I will or get my gamepage moved/redone on this account.

So your game contains platforming? Man, this looks so awesome! I love this kind of top-down platforming ever since I played the GBA Banjo-Kazooie game.

I'm in a bit of a design conundrum right now: how to ask people for hints on how to make a certain puzzle mechanic understandable without simultaneously describing the mechanic to a bunch of potential players? The problem is, if someone played the game after reading my comment asking for hints, they'd already know what to do since my comment would have described it, so I wouldn't be able to use their gameplay experience as valid data do determine whether I managed to convey the puzzle mechanics in an understandable way (that is, the players are supposed to eventually understand the mechanic by playing the game, not by reading something external to it).

Maybe I could restrict the number of people I talk about those mechanics with, but then I end up cutting into potential testers, since I don't exactly have that many close people I can ask for help with game dev.

What would you guys do in this situation?

The tiling suggestion sounds cool, thanks! As for the circle, unfortunately RM2K3's native resolution is 320x240, meaning I can't do much about that :(
I think you misunderstood- even in RM2k3's native resolution, aliasing is perfectly possible:

As for the light, I figured I'd provide some reference, since I'm already cracking open photoshop and all:

This shot also includes aliasing on the bottom left and top right of the circle, so you can see the difference.

Thanks :) this looks nice.

@Momeka: that looks awesome. Love the retro style and the choice of color. Also, the menus are fine.

@Tw0Face I like retro "first person" RPG games like Shine in the Darkness. This looks nice.

The following screenshot is from a minimalistic map in the game I'm currently working on, in which Carol (the main character) talks to a fortune teller and undergoes a spiritual experience.

Is it aesthetically pleasing, or should I change something? Any feedback is very welcome.
