What are you thinking about? (game development edition)
Is there such thing as a game's plot being too serious about real life issues? I'm kind of afraid of crossing the line on certain topics I'd like to bring up in my current project. You know, racism, censorship, stuff like that.
Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
Working on a simple pixellated HUD for an old school RM2K3 ABS project. Yes, I know, ABSes tend to suck on RM2K3, but I just need to give this one a try.

The upper left corner shows the currently equipped weapon, alongside the current amount of health (big red hearts) and the maximum (small empty hearts).
Thoughts?

What RPG Maker do you use?
I use RPG Maker 2003 (official KADOKAWA version), for old time's sake. The main reason why I'm still developing my current game in RM2K3 is to give teenage me some kind of "closure". I want to make one good game to compensate for the plethora of average-to-bad games I released back in the late 2000's, and I want it to be rich in heart and meaning (no project page yet, maybe one day when I actually have something to show).
I intend to move away from RPG Maker 2003 after I finish this project, though.

What are you thinking about? (game development edition)
Working on listing historical events that shape the world in which my game takes place, including basically every major event all the way to the beginning of the game. Now I'm giving the list a long, hard look, just to make sure I didn't dig myself any absurd plot holes.
Other RPG Maker games that inspire you?
Games that inspire me in world building and storytelling:
-Yume Nikki (plus a plethora of surprisingly good fangames)
-Ib
-OFF
-Sunset over Imdahl
-The Legend of the Philosopher's Stone
-Carlsev Saga
-Legion Saga (I,II,III)
-The Wandering Planet (by LOLninja, I'm assuming it was never published outside the now defunct Ultima Island)
-Kindred Saga
-ONYX (the first one)
-Erayu
-More recently, Aria's Story
Games that inspire me in terms of gameplay:
-Chimera Report
-cRaZy gUy's Journey (yes)
-Make it Work! (also by LOLninja, another project that I assume only made it to Ultima Island and nowhere else)
-The Wandering Planet (inspires me in both world building and mechanics)
-Erayu (same as above)
-RPGM2KBRPG! (variety is key)

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
author=RukiriSprites, not much else.
Looks real cool, like a GBA game.
EDIT: Also, I'm working on listing the things I want to "test out" in the first gameplay demo of my new game. So far, I'm thinking about including:
- All menus and HUDs (so that people can comment on their appearance and ease of use).
- Simple examples of the combat and movement mechanics (so I can actually gauge how hard, as well as how fun, combat and movement actually are)
- Simple examples of puzzles (again, to check how well those are handled and what ideas I should ditch or improve upon)
- Easy to find secrets with zero gameplay effect hidden in some nooks and crannies (just to let the players know that exploration is supposed to play a key role in the future game)
Anything else you guys would include in a gameplay demo? I don't think it'd make sense to include too much story in one, since that's supposed to be one of the core elements of the actual full game.

You can thank Cherry for that I think... I love the full version and that you get 9999 variables instead of 5000 max.
Cherry, would you marry me?
What are you thinking about? (game development edition)
I wanna marry whoever is responsible for the new "show picture" options.
They're all I asked for and more. Worth every penny I spent getting the full version <3
