I'm a very big fan of music of japanese role playing games for it has influenced me throughout my life since my early childhood. The day I saw Nobuo on the stage in front of me I decided I too will become a composer one day. It has been 9 years since that day.

You can't find my works anywhere right now, but that will change very soon this year as I will be contributing several original tracks for RMN Music Pack 2.

Remixed it with less bass and updated the track. Hope it´s a bit better now.

Yeah this is much better!

Summoner of Sounds

Ah man, the late entry submissions start rolling in. I should try to get mine up soon, too. Only 1 week remaining!

@ Ylmir: Homely! Very well controlled mood and good volume details. Nice transitions. Love the flute around 1:30! Uh, pretty top notch work really. I like it a lot! Hits the theme spot on.

@ Azhthar:
Yeah, I can see it coming. Light-hearted silliness. Yup, each instrument adds to it very well. Great instrumentation and detail. Only critique is that some of the bass range tones sound slightly overbearing at some parts and clog up the ambiance a bit, but it isn't really that noticable. Great work and very good mix in any case. Goes to my favs too!

Are you two somehow connected? You both appeared at the same time with very good quality works!

Hello ! I have a question about the rules as well.

All works submitted to the event have to be 100% original work of the participants and must contain no copyrighted material, either compositionally or in terms of sampled sounds.

When I compose music, I use a lot of sample libraries I purchased, does it mean I do not have the right to use them for the challenge, even if I have a legal license ? Or is it only to prevent people from uploading something made with sampled music ?

Also, a lot of people uploaded both WAV and OGG versions of their tracks. What would you recommend ? Uploading both for users' convenience, or avoiding duplicate content by uploading only the WAV version ?

Thank you !

When you have bought licence to the samples you are using, you are not restricted by their copyright. The rule was meant to prevent people from using material they do not have rights for. When you purchase samples, it usually means you gain the rights to use them.

If you can make a polished mix and a song, I recommend rendering the song to a loopable .ogg. If you don't know how to build .ogg loop, or if your song will need further revisions and polish, then I recommend .wav.

Thanks for the info. So I understand that RMN Music Pack 2 will eventually run as a separate event. Would it still be possible to submit a sample for Summoner of Sounds AND still have it qualify for an entry into RMN Music Pack 2 at a later date, however?

In other words, should I hold out to submit an entry to RMN instead of sharing it here? I would hate to share a sample here only to have it be disqualified from the Music Pack. If I'm not mistaken, both of these events are free resources for developers?

Once again, thanks for the clarification.

Yes, submission for both of the events will be shared for free. And no, you can't submit same song for both events. It doesn't benefit the community in any way. I recommend partaking the Summoner of Sounds events if you're looking to be involved in the RMN Music events for the current time being, as the RMN Music Pack 2 event won't be starting for a good while yet.

I believe you're correct on the first, but as was already pointed out to me it wouldn't make sense to sell tracks made for this as they'll be available in the free pack.

Pretty much this!

Also, Summoner of Sounds entries will not be used for the actual RMN Music Pack 2. RMN Music Pack 2 will run as a separate event. There may still be some sort of collection release of the Summoner of Sounds entries, though.

One reason why RMN always puts me in a good mood are the ads for dating Arab women.

Arab!? I always got adds for chinese women!

One thing to remember @TheDragonhat is that most people using RPGMaker are making games as a hobby. You might have picked the wrong crowd, especially since Voice Acting in RPGMaker isn't usually a thing due to the limited graphics. But I wish you luck all the same :).

Everyone here isn't using Rpg Maker and everyone here isn't making games as a hobby.

Your voice acting is very impressive Dragonhat. I'm amazed how many different roles you can pull off. I would be very interested in your services if I would actually be already producing the game project I am working a concept for, but for now it's still not relevant, so I'll just keep you in mind for a later date.

If I own a license to the program, can I edit the RTP and use it in my commercial game?

Also, if I can edit the graphics commercially, I take it I can remix the music commercially, too? What if I wanted to sell my game's soundtrack and it was made of remixed RTP tracks?

If I own a license to the program, can I edit the RTP and use it in my commercial game?

You can try, but actually paying for it is a hassle unless you have a friend in Japan who will do it for you. Nessy had some trouble getting herself a copy, iirc, because it'll only take Japanese credit cards or something like that. Whatever the case, it's extremely hard to buy the Japanese versions of 2k/3.

But if you can pay with paypal then it doesn't matter where you are from I think.

[RMVX ACE] silly question---how do you take a screenshot?

You could always take a photo with your phone, too...
