Wasn't sure what just happened there with all the postings. Sorry, probably was editing into the reply box.

Tales of the Drunken Paladin: Version 3 Review
Tales of the Drunken Paladin: Version 3 Review
Calunio gets his wish. When it comes down to it, I think Solitayre is just being hard on this game. I was going to attempt to put it into context by using his record as a reviewer. However, considering that his body of reviews appears to average out to a 3 for all games, I don't think I can argue his expectations are unreasonable.
In my eyes, three stars is the benchmark for an rpgmaker effort. If the score is above, it is better than most - if it is below, its worse than most games in the community. I agree with many of Solitayre's points, the difference is that none of those problems severely spoiled the game experience for me, while it did for him. My appreciation for TDP will not allow me to believe (as I think 3 is the score for a very regular game) that I could play well over half of the games on this site and get a better experience.
"The game also has a fairly annoying habit of throwing nigh undefeatable monsters at you with little to no warning and basically mocking you for dying. " This is an aspect of the game that is not unanimously a good or bad thing. One player can say this is an incredibly stupid way to design a game. Another player, like myself, can say they enjoy a tense moment where you have to win or die whether or not you are prepared. What he saw as weaknesses in the plot I was not concerned with, I just wanted it to stay funny and have a definitive personality. Solitayre also was vocal about his disdain for the level design and how it's about going from point A to point B, but I have not played a lot of games where it is much different. Hitting switches, moving blocks, par for the course mostly. Its more rare than common for someone to think outside the box. When someone does come up with a unique idea for level design, its usually a type of long puzzle that tries my patience feels detrimental to the pacing of the game. I can totally see how this is not a 5 star game for some people, but its hard to justify seeing many reviews for it below 3.5.

Hey, that's awesome!
I looked at the results and sorry you and your group didn't win. Well, the great Neil Young has been rocking for fifty years and just won his first one - for box art on a compilation album. I mention this to a friend at work and he says "And there's a reason for that, his music is horrible." I then threw him into the cardboard bailer and pushed the button.
