I just discovered this today, and it is awesome to the nth degree.

This whole series is just plain amazing.

Forum threads vs. Game Blogs

I think it is true that using a forum thread to advertise our games is us just doing what we know. We have seen several instances where a forum post has given a game some nice publicity, which is something we have not seen yet with blogs. More often than not, a person will put a lot more thought into his/her blog than a forum post.
For that effort you would want to make sure your blog gets seen, otherewise, forget it. The way things are now, I think the people more inclined to make blogs are ones who know their game has a following.

On the other hand, blogging is simply a really great feature to have available. As for me, I see blogs as higher quality content than a forum advertising post, so I would like to see more. I think the people who take the time to make quality blogs for thier well designed games should be selected as featured developers. The site could offer them some extra promotion/advertising by the way of the front page. I think that would be a good idea as it would reward people for bringing in good content (such as a blog). One could then think that writing a good blog might just might make their game a standout in the community, so long as the game itself also deserves the feature. This kind of thing is pretty sucessful on sites like Youtube or Newgrounds, where staff members cherry pick submissions to place in the spotlight. In a lot of cases, it helps people find content that was once obscure and underappreciated.

I am not trying to say that everyone is totally attention-whoring. But to different degrees, we are all motivated by gaining positive exposure.

Knight Templar

I did not mean to be discouraging. I probably did not need to say anything at all, its just the file size caught me off guard. I hope people who play it give you some good reviews. I might try it myself.

Knight Templar

I was about to download this so I could make a review for you and then saw it was 184 megs. I am not one to be overly picky about what size a game should be, but 184 meg is time and bandwidth demanding for almost anyone. Generally, I would only download a game that large if I can already bank on the author's works to be good. I may give it a shot, but it will be when I feel like downloading a large file.

What we did horribly on our first games.

"Playing it now would probably be like living out a thirteen year old's fever dream."

I don't know, sounds like if you ever made a playable game out of it, it would be freakishly cool.

What we did horribly on our first games.

Did you ever go back to actually replay the first game you created? Did you praise yourself over its sheer perfection or did you ask yourself "Just what was I thinking?!"

As I had told people I was going to post my first game on this site this week, I decided to give the old demo of my first game another go round. Up to that point, I would remember generating positive reviews and feedback about the project as a whole.
Now I know we can look at things we had done and think we did a few things pretty bad, but there is also doing some things so bad that they are laughable. I would find it amusing to particularly hear stories about the latter.

The Main Hero Face set from Forever Across Dreams:
What do we have here? A face made in poser and pixel edited in paint? And what's with the huge massive neanderthal jaw, hehe.

This game is being reworked just a touch before its re-release. It wont be changed much from the original, just fixing a few things that caught my attention.

Sacred Shadow's

This seems intruiging so far, I can see some good work with the images. I really mean no offence since your character sprites look well done... but the sprites look creepily similar to avatars from an online chat interface for teenagers. I do feel a lot of people will like them though.

It looks like you are doing a good job and has an original style visually. The description for your story is very vague and could apply to many of the rpgs that are being made, could you flesh it out in more detail?

No one is really making this. thank god.
