Release Something! Day IX: something about cats: Discussion Thread

Glad you are being informative, but if this thread turns more into a discussion of "whats happening with Release Something" it would be a disservice to people who submitted a game for the event. I hope more people discuss the games again.

Let's name this game Final fantasy because it is a RPG.

I lost an FFIV fangame I was working on because I never made a backup. The feedback for what I was showing was awesome, and I thought it could possibly be one of the great fangames. I would not settle for less. Who knows, but at least it's what I believed. But its true most of the time its like
"Final Fantasy: Don's Adventure" - no point at all. I wonder what would happen to games like The Way and A Blurred Line if they were the same but renamed as Final Fantasy fan games. I can only imagine a worse reception for them. Hell, sometimes a real final fantasy game seems like some random rpg squaresoft made, with the name slapped on its title screen and cartridge. I swear Mystic Quest was an attempt to see if you could sell just anything
so long as it beared the name.

Release Something! Day IX: something about cats: Release Thread

Rusty! I made this game in 2005 to close the book on a game I stopped working on in 2001. Its pretty much a
scapbook of where I left off in making the game Angels of Exodus; an idea to "release something" before such an event was held on RMN. It was released before on GamingW but was only available for a few days before the file became a broken link, so I really doubt many people have played this.
I played this game once more before uploading and rolled my eyes at the cheesefest within it. Still, I feel there was something unique about the game I was making in terms of style and atmosphere. I cant think of a single RM game that it feels similar to. And if one exists, I would like to play it myself. I enjoyed seeing it again with all its strengths and weaknesses.

I spent one hour testing it and one hour touching it up before now. There is a graphical bug in my interface and I could not find out what caused it. Two of the features are called "Shabeeb Dancer" where one of them was meant to show "Ze's Quest" The feature is labelled wrong, but it still takes you to the right thing, so try it.

The game is getting worked on, going through an overhaul based on the feedback of users and my wife.
I think we will see it reworked on a more recent gamemaker engine. Its also being worked on alongside something else.

YDS, I always enjoy a good community game and this looks promising. Can I be someone's hat or maybe a weapon or something? That would be cool.

Title screen for my rmvx game (if the name is familiar, its a standalone episode, not a remake). I wonder if someone would help me improve this screen if I gave them the .psd elements that made it. The parts I would like to keep are the font, the red background and a logo thats form is a black shadow.

Yes it does. It would not be half as bad if the coloring of the whole set was not atrocious. Anyway, this was a screenshot from the earliest days of this game when I was working on my laptop. What you see here actually looked like good coloring on the laptop, but it looks like trash on any other moniter I have ever seen.
I use a PC now that does a good job of interpreting color.
