@Jude: The game has a nice retro feel. You might already know this but I think you can improve the ground tiles. The texture looks like dirt but the color and straightness of the top layer makes it look like something else.

Surface clarity is important.

With that cartoon style at that resolution, consider thickening your outlines to really make the objects pop.

GRANDIA 3 -- What's with the hate?

So the protagonist and his mom have the same voice actors as another game I played semi-recently, except in that game they are lovers. So of course my mind wanders to the taboo when they speak to each other.

Also, fix the aspect ratio of your emulator. Your screenshots look awful. To compare:

If you really want to run in widescreen, there is a patch here: http://ps2wide.net/g.html

However, said patch will still stratch UI elements and may cause problems in other areas.

GRANDIA 3 -- What's with the hate?

Grandia Xtreme was such a buggy disaster I never bothered with Grandia 3. Plus, it came out in the WoW era (AKA, the dark ages).

I decided to play without ever touching the auction house again after beating normal mode. It was so much of a better game. It was like playing Diablo 2 with faster combat and better graphics. Highly recommend.

In pre-patch Diablo 3, I cleared through Act 2 Inferno just on drops. Got cockblocked at Act 3 and decided I didn't want to farm for a month. I imagine it's totally feasible to clear at least MP0-MP1 Inferno without the auction house now.

Didn't occur to me when first creating my animation effect class, but just by blitting an animation on a moving object, motion trails are created.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

Whether it actually is longer or not doesn't really matter. What matters is whether or not it looks longer. Do some fudging and see if you can't bring them more into line!

It doesn't just look longer--it is longer. His geometry isn't equal in all directions so he shouldn't be drawing them with the assumption that they are. Based on the front of the car, his diagonals should run about 1/2, not 1/sqrt(2), so his car diagonal car should be about 26 pixels instead of the 35 he's got.

The Sims 4

I'm a pretty big fan of the series. I tend to play the hands-off approach, creating the initial scenario and then observing how the AI agents carry out their will.

I don't think there are that many rom hacks out there that are just text edits. I think the vast majority of them are gameplay hacks like hard modes. My experience could be colored by the types I've sought out and the types that the people I've known have been involved with making, though.

Hard mode hacks are not games, they are mods. Strip away what the romhackers have done and what remains is 95% of the same product. If you gut the entire event scripting and content data structures and all that remains is an engine, then you've made a game. These exist in very few numbers.

gimme a good reason why the line should be drawn there beyond your choice of noun ("it's not an x, it's an x!") and I might think something different, though!

Because it expands the site beyond its intended scope. The nouns aren't merely labels--they are descriptors for the type of content we carry, and run-of-the-mill romhacks are not included.
