The Last King of Hyrule

EDIT:

I've fully completed the level to it's finest. Also barely learned how exactly events worked, so I got the EXIT available at the end. Also calling it Oceanic Palace (just because lol).

Remaining issues:
The Boss itself, it's a fully functional boss, and I gave the right materials needed to defeat it, but I made it so it would not be too easy either. The only thing left with the boss is to change his chainball attack to some kind of fish spikes graphics. I hope no one finds this boss impossible. If so, l'll have to re-adjust him again.

Mini-Boss:
There is no mini-boss as I've no idea what I could possibly use for that area. For right now there is just a old wizard guy to warn link of dangers ahead, and a open checkpoint.

More heart-pieces?:
I've littered the level with hearts pieces in the right places, but if the number is too low let me know.

Other items:
Let me know if there is any other items you want me to add for link in that area.

Other:
I was thinking when we're crafting the story that it would make more sense for link (STORY-WISE) to gain the ability to breathe under-water seeing how gameplay-wise that will never be implemented. It will least give some impression of believability. Also Link2112 pointed out a engine to me that can import anything from the SMBX, and including levels. If it comes down to it we can maybe use this instead of this engine..(IF it comes down to that):

I also left a section completely blank in the Oceanic Palace for other purposes proposed by you all in case something is needed.

Nayru's Sapphire (or Zoras)

Deleted...just delete this topic.

I'm about to lose my mind with this damn instant warp in SMBX

Actually I managed to figure out in the custom-music box you have to set a path to the folder, and then put a "/", and THEN type in the music name. I got it to work finally.

Btw by replace I meant custom stuff as I'm not really trying to replace any of the original sounds, and music. Sorry I should have made myself more clear.

What are you thinking about right now?

What I'm thinking about today:

Surprised how much I learned how to animate-sprites, edit sprites, using advanced color techniques for sprites. Learn half of the SMBX engine. Still trying to figure out how to work out advanced flag events.

The Last King of Hyrule

So far I'm making alot of good progress, and some of the normal zelda enemies already imported in here has made things go alot faster.

I also imported some backgrounds myself, and edited the colors abit to match the temple, and redid some areas to make it more or less challenging. Reduced enemy count in some areas, and placed them more strategically. I got the boss up, and running now. I just got to make a fish-spike graphic to replace the chainball.

EDIT:
THANK GOD YES I FIGURED OUT HOW THE CUSTOM MUSIC WORKED. YOU HAVE TO SET A PATH TO THE FOLDER.

I'm going to see if I can make myself a Zora's Sapphire Background. (Attempt at least lol, I suck at drawing).

I'm about to lose my mind with this damn instant warp in SMBX

Yes! Successful! I got the boss to operate properly, but I'm going to replace a bowser sprite. I managed to get him to float in midair as well, and replaced his firebreath attack with Fish-ammo. Seeing as there is no fire-breathing enemies in my temple. I'm thinking of replacing the hammers with spikes coming out of his back.

Also is it possible to replace sounds? I was attempting to replace the birdo-damage, and bowser dying sound with what I got, but looks like it isn't working.

Bet that guy at spriter's resource is going to be happy that his boss will be finally be used for something. :)

The Last King of Hyrule

oops I looked at the deadline wrong, I thought it was this month. Oops lol.

Good, now I can fully concentrate adding the more advanced stuff. Btw LockeZ I think you are going to like what I did. I changed some things around.

Villainous Event?

Follow how Nightblade handled his legacy series. It's really that simple. He gives attention to BOTH sides instead of being completely one-sided. If you can do both sides then you got a really good story on your hands.

A very good example would also be the following as it was rare for RPGs to do what they did:
Xenogears
Xenosaga series.

They focused on both sides of the conflict. It does not have to be some godly story as long you got something in mind to put down on paper, but the characters goals/conflicts/emotions have to be believable or else the story comes off the rails.

It's something I did notice sometimes in RMN games. The villains starts off ok, but then it all falls apart due to lack of attention/detail/lack of personal scenes/their point of view/sometimes just plain out dumb. This also applies to heroes as well that I've seen.

I also found it interesting that it was the first time in a RMN game that I got to briefly control a villain in Demon Legacy during story plot points. I think this makes a game more interesting. I think most RMN devs should try some sort of balancing act between hero, and villain segments.

I didn't know my topic got someone banned....oopsies...o_O

There is a new version of Smbx.

http://www.supermariobrosx.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=962

I guess this would be version 3.1 as opposed to 3.0 which I think we have.

Changes for 1.3.0.1:

Editor
-The button icons for various items no longer use GBA palettes.
-SMB2 Grass slopes have been fixed.
-SMB3 Wood slopes have been fixed.
-SMW Castle tiles have been fixed.
-New SMB3 sizables have been added.
-New SMW sizables have been added.
-Graphics with the GBA version palette now use the SNES palette like the rest of the graphics in the game.
-Various other graphical fixes.

Players
-Tanooki Mario is no longer missing a row of pixels on top.
-Toad now uses the sprite from SMB2 for the SNES. (He has more spots on his hat.)

Main Game
-New Princess Cliche has been added as a default episode.
-Two new battle stages have been added.
-There's a new intro level.

Music
-All music now has increased quality.

Sound
-All sounds now have increased quality.

I think this would help not only me, but the others working on the Zelda Event, and also anything mario related. The music quality increase is what caught my eye.
