SOPA 2013 (aka: streaming "copyrighted material" == felony)

Heads up, SOPA is raring it's damned ugly head again, this time going after streamers of "copyrighted materials" and making such an act a felony. And mind you, that's "copyrighted materials" in the vaguest sense of the word possible, true to SOPA-style legislation.
I was apparently one month behind on the news, obviously, but it's better late than never seeing as there doesn't seem to be any topic about this here as far as I can tell from a quick look-through. RMN isn't distant from this issue since stuff like Let's Plays fall exactly under the kind of stuff Congress is going after.
EDIT: White House petiton at: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-sopa-2013/LMzMVrQF
It's not much, but it's a start.
EDIT2: Grammar fix.

What makes a great anime, for you?
bulmabriefs144You must be thinking of Gundam Unicorn and others set in the UC universe. Gundam Seed (Destiny), Gundam 00, Gundam X, and Gundam Wing all had character designs along the lines of To Aru Majutsu no Index and Shakugan no Shana.
(anything that looks super-realistic like Gundam, is an instant turn-off).
What makes a great anime, for you?
What makes a great anime for me? In no particular order:
* Good story. Does not neccesarily have to be the most dramatic, complex plot ever with 9001 plot twists; if it properly carries the anime, it's good.
* Good characters.
* Good music.
* Good seiyuus (voice actors).
* Super/real robots and other mecha, if applicable.
* Decent animation budget.
* Has relatively proper closure at the end, not applicable if guaranteed sequel.
* Appropriate levels of fanservice if applicable, not too much and not too little.
As for anime that I consider were great or just really liked, 20 of them (there's more!) in no particular order:
* Yuusha-Ou GaoGaiGar
* Gundam Seed & Gundam Seed Destiny
* Card Captor Sakura
* Slayers
* Sword Art Online
* Nichijou
* Seitokai no Ichizon
* Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai
* Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu
* Detective Conan
* Campione
* Hyouka
* Sakura-sou no Pet na Kanojo
* Kyoukaisen-jou no Horizon
* Galaxy Angel
* Crest/Banner of the Stars
* Zoids
* Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
* Ixion Saga DT
* Fairy Tail

Why your name?
author=Shinan"Shinan" in Japanese means "to instruct" or "to teach". It can also mean "next to impossible", as in "shinan no waza" which translates to "task that is next to impossible". It's a really philosophically deep word.
So yeah Shinan doesn't really mean anything and I don't know how it popped into my head originally during that character creation sitting. I wanted something that could roll off the tongue easily enough while being obviously fantasy-ish I guess. It also was before my "japanese period" so although it sounds like something a japfag would come up with it was before I got to that part of my life.

Here on RMN and other places like on IRC, I use the name King Arthur (alternatively KingArthur and King_Arthur). The source of the name should be obvious. King Arthur was one of my childhood heroes, having read and seen about him and his Knights of the Round Table, and it was a natural choice when I first started to really lurk the internet and needed a username. Sometimes I add on the numbers "6687" to it, for King Arthur6687, when the name isn't available like on AIM. The number originates from my forum account ID at Gaming World before they changed from IPB to SMF.
Another name I've concurrently used is Dalewyn and Dalewyn Lancaster. The name first came about when I was getting into RO for the first time and needed a name for my character. The phrase "over the dale and through the woods" came to mind, and I combined the "dale" with the Welsh suffix "-wyn" because it sounded cool and very medieval. I later learned "-wyn" meant "white" in Welsh, which meant "Dalewyn" would translate roughly to "white valley", completely unintentional on my part but an interesting result nonetheless. The "Lancaster" part comes from the English Duchy and City of Lancaster because I personally find that name sounds awesome. I've since also used the name for the protagonist of any RM game I will make, none of which have come to fruition or public consumption as of yet.
Usernames seem so simple at first glance, and yet it's clear reading this topic and looking back at my own usernames that they all have an interesting history to them that just needs a storyteller to unravel. This topic's awesome.
[Poll] What type of Youtube Video do you prefer?
Informative since I'm subscribed to several channels/users who post nice videos on computer equipment both new and old. I also like videos that are there just for the music though, the ones that have still-images and then nothing but music.
Come play LoL with us!
LoL name is Dalewyn, I main ADCs but I pretty much play anything depending on the situation. Feel free to add me! ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ

Opera web browser moving over to Webkit
author=Travio
(as I know a lot of people design for Webkit browsers and ignore anything else).
Ironic how we used to bitch and moan about how everyone was coding for Trident (read: IE6), but everyone coding for WebKit is causing less of a fuss (not going to say it's acceptable because it isn't).
Opera web browser moving over to Webkit
author=LockeZ
The fewer systems there are to design software for, the easier software design is.
Though I'm not sure what all exactly is included in Webkit, it sounds like this is FANTASTIC news for web developers, who currently have a nightmare on their hands trying to make their code work on a billion different web browsers, which all render pages differently. Probably 90% of web design is taken up by trying to get a page that looks and acts correctly on one browser to also look and act that same way on all the others. If the end result of this change is that two of the major browsers render pages identically, or even near-identically, I will be SO FUCKING THRILLED
The flip side is that all web browser engines are supposed to output near-identical data. While browser engines back 5~10 years ago would've been all over the place, with Gecko being one of the more accurate engines, today Gecko, Trident, Presto, and Webkit (among others) all have only very minor rendering discrepancies if there are any at all. All browser engines adhere to the HTML and CSS standards put forth by the W3C, so by design the output of all the engines are near-identical.
What this basically means is that today, web developers don't have to worry as much about how their code renders on a given browser engine and can spend that effort and time on writing better code.
What Presto's demise in this situation also means is that there are less choices on how to render a webpage. While the output of the various engines are all near-identical, how they go about actually processing the information in order to render the data is vastly different in each browser engine implementation. Consolidation and elimination of browser engines is ultimately a net loss for all of us because it means we've lost one unique way of interpreting HTML/CSS and visually rendering them; the method utilized by Presto might not be the most ideal, it might even be terrible (not to say it is), but the simple presence of Presto being there kept an avenue open for developers to take when tackling how to go about rendering webpages. The loss of Presto really is a sad day.
