in addition to the items on pokemaniac's list, i think this tidbit from natook is of some import and could stand to be seen again:
Also, I stand by my second post, scattered votes will get us no where. I'd rather we all unify in a decision or persuade each other otherwise instead of "welp, he looks suspicious, VOTE"
strength in unity and all that!

... oh, i get it.

/lynch yellow magic

[MAFIA] October Werewolves

why are you voting for yellow magic?

The Cop should only come forward if he's got a guilty.
you've said this before, but you never explained. as long as we can protect the cop, what harm in there is coming forward if he's found an innocent?

of course i'm eager! speculative lynching has shown its unreliability in the past. if we don't adopt a new approach, the village is doomed. it doesn't have to be perfect - my plan obviously isn't, there's going to be a risk involved no matter what we do. what's important is that we agree on a course of action and set it in motion as soon as possible, because the longer we keep waffling, the less chance we have of getting anything meaningful done. :/

if we're just going to keep jumping on everyone who says anything remotely suspicious, you might as well go ahead and lynch me right now.

edit: slow koff
also, i get what FoS means, but what does it stand for?

Why are you assuming the cop/angel is still alive? I thought villager was just a generic name for town instead of being the actual role name. It would made sense since roles didn't get revealed last game. In which case you guys could have already killed the cop.
if this is the case, there's all the more reason to set the plan in motion sooner than later. i'd hate to see our cop/angel get killed/lynched while we're twiddling our thumbs. :/

if anyone has another plan, though, i'd love to hear it.

edit: kitsune, are you wanting me to say something in my defense, too?

i'm not sure this routine of "welp, he looks suspicious, VOTE" is really helping the village. between this game and the last we've lynched four villagers and zero scum. looking back on the last game, everyone who aroused the village's suspicion turned out to be innocent, while the trolls were among the least suspected. no one even cast one vote for scum until the last day (and one of the two votes cast then was retracted), which i feel is indicative that they've been very careful not to raise eyebrows. if this game's mafia is anything like the last, then they're going to make a point of being inconspicuous, so i don't think it's wise to continually jump on anyone who says something sketchy.

i'm not suggesting we should instead target everyone who looks totally innocent, either. if i'm right, then after seeing this, it's possible that the mafia will try to play the reverse psychology game, rendering futile any witchhunt against the overly trustworthy. or they may not! in general i don't think a person's in-thread behavior is particularly telling, and i doubt if using it as the basis for our lynches will get us very far.

i don't really have a better idea at this time, but we still have most of the day ahead of us to discuss one. we have a cop and an angel on our side - maybe we should try to make better use of them.

what if we ask the cop to come forward with his report? then we can discuss whether or not to believe him. if we decide that we want to trust him, the angel (provided he/she is paying attention to the thread) can silently protect the cop from the werewolves. if we don't trust him, we can lynch him, since only a werewolf would have any reason to impersonate that role. sure, there's a chance we might kill our own inspector, but if we're not going to use him anyway, then it's hardly any different from randomly lynching a regular villager - which we're bound to do anyway if we maintain our current strategy of speculative lynching.
