I do not formulate reviews upon request. I do them only on "The RMN Journey" or "The RMN Short-Trip" which is completely random and dependant on my mood. Testing Games and giving Bug Reports or General Feedback I do on request, sometimes even without. Realize that I am nothing more than a gamer. I have no technical expertise in making games or writing scripts of any sort. If I Review a game positively it means that I think that the general crowd would also enjoy the game. If I Review a game negatively it means that I think that it won't be liked. I may be mistaken.

Do NEVER ask me to promote your game. Do NEVER request that I open a thread talking about your game. Do NEVER expect ANYTHING from me. I WILL disappoint you. Except if we are friends. Do ask me if we can be friends, but only if you can take rejection. That's all.

And no, I'm not such an hard-ass. I'm just playing around. If you're nice, I'll be nice too :)

If you are actually interested in my stuff, here is my List of Reviews

The one thing that will always stay above anything anybody will ever tell me.
The one thing that will always shine brighter than any random RMN quote.

The Reconstruction

I hope somebody can help me here...
Berylbin Outpost (near Shra Lowlands). The Cartographer wants me to place 5 becons/trails. I failed 2 times now (which amounts to about one real-time-hour)because I can't cross the gap. Nothing that there is to be found noting I can "lend" from that storage dood helps me cross the gap. I havent found a way to use anything at my disposal. The Berry Oil seems like a waste of time so far.

If anyone knows how to close the gap I'd be grateful. My Character keeps telling me that it seems that there was someting closing the gap but was recently taken by the stream. I don't know where to search anymore. I thought the big-ass brick from the two pillars north west should do the trick, but no... :(

Edit: I'm sorry.... seem to have been blind. Didn't notice the wooden plank that I can lend... Guess this will do... ^^'

One Night

I read that there is a best ending were I save Alex... I read that I need the fotograph and stay by him... When I returned to him the first time (after splitting up letting tiffany get the atoming destabilisator or something) My Character told her that he died smiling because he showed him the photograph we found earlier but Machani is dead anyway. After I beat the game with tiffany (had the anti.venom) game told me that I should try saving machani and also gave me the code for HARDMODE. So I went back and tried if there is a way to make machani look at the foto befor I go into the room with the plasma rifle but again no dice.

What did I do wrong? :(

Death Proclaimed

Finished it! God Clark is a hard son of a....
I barely killed him with alot o' luck.
The eternal wait everytime you die on one of the most randomly difficult bosses in history is really annoying. But it gets one thinking. It was still pretty frustrating to die.

In that regard.
How in the Holy Mother of Heaven did I get the "Great" ending? What exactly are the values that count toward it? I ask because I really wouldn't have thought to get this ending. I barely made it out alive.

So if anyone knows the exact requirements I'd be glad to hear them, as I'd be interested in seeing the other endings. I'm also not afraid of those Monsters anymore, since I met Yoda and became a Jedi.

Is there a "bad" ending?

Anyway. Great game. If you stick with it to the end. Otherwise it's a very frustrating experience for whoever gives up. I know. I was there.

A BLURRED LINE v2.1

Good Game so far. Though I gotta say, the driving stages make me wanna puch lysander68 in the face. And then punch him in the face some more. God I hate the driving stages.

1. Because you start of the vehicle at impossible to control speed, you will fail multiple times even if you're a god of refexes before even making the first screen.
2. The main reason why the driving stage enrages me is, that while the traffic pattern is always the same, controlling to which lane I jump when pressing up or down is unpredictable. You can move only one lane if you very carefully tab the button, but as soon as you try to do so, you already crash into another vehicle, hammering the space button in rage for another shot. The dev got really carried away with the driving here.
3. While giving me the option to let go of the driving stage, there's still the pot o' gold sitting on top of all this. Every stage you master yourself you get a reward, even if in an later stage you "give up".
4. BUT you really screwed me over because the game tells you right when the track begins that "less accidents, better reward" which is a LIE but of course led me to constantly restart the game to try and make it without dying once. When the third stage rolled over I really wanted to end you.

Make it really hard, but please dear god not impossible to make it on first try. A level on Silver Surfer on the NES is more likely to be beat on first try than this driving stage. The challange on any game should not consist of how crippled the controls are.

Other than that I love the cyberpunkisch setting. I love Lysander68 Games anyway (The Blue Contestant, Frozen World, Book of Three) so I'll enjoy it alot. Still.. I also hope that at some point I find a doctor, since I refused the offer of King Pin to fix my leg.

THE BOOK OF THREE

author=fharden
Will not play won't even start up ERROR (( can not open file Royal ))

Do you have rm2k? http://crankeye.com/?page=downloads
In case you install rm2k, create a folder (lets call it "Book of Three) in the "Project" folder of it. Don't forget do also download the RTP 1.0 and RTP 1.32
If you have rm2k as well as the other installments (rm2k3, rmxp, rmvx, rmace) make sure you didn't put the game folder to the "Project" folder of the wrong system. This is a RPG Maker 2000 game. Also make sure that there are no folders in between the "Book of Three" folder (which holds the data, since the data in the RAR comes without an folder) and the "Project" folder as in this case the game failes to find it's way to the RTP. Also don't dump the Data in the RAR just into the project folder without creating it's own "Book of three"-Folder, since this also could cause problems.

If you just want to play this one game, you might as well download only the RTP and copy its content into the game folder, this will, in most cases, also work.

For the better understanding of this: While most new games come with RTP included, or don't use the RTP at all, this game is from a time where it wasn't common, especially in RPG Maker 2000. The reason it is so small (2.5 MB) is because it is more convenient to already have the RTP in an installed RPG-Maker and just download the way smaller additional files. This way you also only have to download the RTP once, instead of downloading the RTP with every new game.

THE BOOK OF THREE

If anyone knows what "50 of the lowliest" means (a grave to the south after the castle has been destoryed) I'd appreciate if they let me know :)

EDIT:

Answering my own question: Get 50 denner tails and talk to the grave again. This will lead to a fight with DARTH DENNER, or so I call him. Bad ass, 2 attacks per round. I assume you're supposed to kill him much later, as the reward you get is for a character you didn't meet yet, but in my first encounter (when I got wiped) I spoils of war'd him and got a blessed sword. (From another attempt I know that instead you can get a special harp and a special two handed sword). And I decided that I apsolutely need this sword. So I pondered.

If you have sleeping powder, NOW is the time to use it. Defeating the Dark Denner while holding "Dreams of Glory" is non easy task, as you have no skills that help in the fight itself (except for Tarans suicide skill, and he's alone). But if you want the blessed sword (or the other loot option (re-load much if not what you want)) Dark Denner can probably whipe you in 2 rounds. Sleeping poweder, as mentioned, is gold, but also very random as to how long the enemy stays asleep. A little trial and error will be necessary. Also, you attack, no matter what you do, is crap. You need voltine shells, basically a 50 damage explosion on one enemy. I had 15 of them which didn't kill him, I had to throw some Poisen darts. I also had 3 sleeping powder. It was very close.

If you want to stack up on voltine shells, in the fire cave to the north (where you're supposed to go to) is a monster which resembles a devilish eye surrounded by flame. Straight stolen from Chrono Trigger, where this monster is a secret boss. If you spoil of war him (you can meet him alone without other monsters. Retreat much. You also can find anti-fire boots and an anti-fire shield, which might help), you get 4 voltine shells.

Of course you could also wait up to the point where you're supposed to fight DARTH DENNER. It was a matter of pride on my part to try and take him early. Even though I made it, I'm thinking now. Darth denner might be shadow-elemental. Maybe the Shadow Boots would've given me an easier time. Well, someone else will have to find out :)

On a different note: This game is so cleverly designed. I felt obsessive-compulsive when the first thing I decided to do was to steal a load of gold from the first part of the forest and go buy everything the town has to offer. Mainly so I wouldn't have to do it later, since it seemed that this is the kind of game which has only one shop-load out (All the good armor was there along with the bad armor).

I also bought stuff like lamp oil, vegetable seeds and a rope. While the former I didn't find any use, right now the game rewarded me half way through for buying the rope :D I got a permanent usable item that restores 10 SP infinitely by using the rope in the lava cave.

The game is old, but very well designed considering that. Though some graphical issues (walls one can walk through. No gamebrakers as far as I can tell though) are present they are no big deal. It feels like an favorable old-school rm2k game. Lots of fun.

Master of the Wind

If anyone is stuck near the end, where you need to gather a certain medallion behind a door which has a 7 digit code on it (You're supposed to find clues/digits using bubbas nose)....

It's not your fault. The 5th digit (or 3rd to last) according to the hints is 0.
In reality it is the number 6.

On a different note. Epicly awesome game. Damn words can't describe how much work was put into this. Totally worth an award. Way better than "Romancing Walker" and others which, for some reason, are rated higher. oh well.

Master of the Wind

Thank you very much!

Yeah... now it seems more obvious. I think It would've been better to give a more fitting hint than "the first and second number have a connection".
Actually one could have reversed this and think that 2 is first, 1 is third, 4 is second and 3 is fourth.

Well, you put my mind at ease :)

Master of the Wind

Please dear god tell me by the holy mother of hell, what has 21-13-42-34 to do with 3-1-4-2. Bones is acting all smart guessing the last guys number being 34. I don't see the connection. Please... it's driving me nuts.

(I actually had to resort to writing every possible combination down, 24 in total, and try them out til I hit the right number)

U.S.G. ~A New Beginning~

Whenever I kill the boss of the first mission the game crashes:

Script 'Scene_Base' line 18: NoMethodError occured
undefined method `floor' for # <Scene_Result: 0x3b9b808>

And yes it really says `floor' instead of 'floor'

Any help would be aprreciated. Both patch-RARs were unzipped to the "Patch"-Folder of the game. ResultFix present.
