LIBERTY'S PROFILE

I enjoy playing and creating games (mostly RPGs) and have a love of story and characterisation above graphics. I've been into RM* since '96 and have used all makers - started on the PSX makers, found and used a patched version of the SNES RM, then moved to RM95. When I found RM2K I finally decided to join some forums and I've been a part of the community ever since.

Help In Scripting

Ugh, some things are great about VX, but some things - like skills not being learnt through item use, are crap.

Sorry, the only idea I have involves Common events, items and variables. There's bound to be an easier way via script, though. Maybe ask around the RMVX forums for such a script?

How do I encrypt my Rm2k3 Game?

Also, it's stupid. If people really want to use your 'special songs' they will un-encrypt your game. It's happened before, it'll happen again. Besides, unless those songs are your own work of art you have no right to keep them from the general listening public. So, yeah, more likely to get your game ignored than anything else.

I'm totally new

Welcome to RMN. Hopefully you'll enjoy it here and contribute heaps. See you around!

YOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Everybody! I'm new here...

Welcome, dezz, hopefully you enjoy your time here. If you need any help just ask, everyone is pretty approachable.

The Craze Number

Excu~se me,Craze,but I do believe I played that one and left you feedback for it as well. Something along the lines of: OMG, love this so much, please keep making, can't wait to play completed version. Battle characters are awesome. <3 <3 <3
Don't make me break out the memory hammer!

Edited because I had just woken up, sorry! ^.^;

The Craze Number

DRESS/Forget me nots was pretty good, actually. I remember playing it, though I could have sworn it was only a demo. Huh. Maybe I didn't finish it or something?

Roses Pilgrimage? I think I recall those screens shots or something like them from quite a while ago. The name rings a bell as well.

Chasing April looks interesting.

I should do one of these topics - so many games started and left for dead. ;.;

Rudra no Hihou (Treasure of the Rudra) CharSets and Battle Chars RM2k3

Dude, use tinypic instead.

Ah, memories...
We wuv you Cwaze! ~.^

AFD: NicoB and LWG's game is the same game. Collaboration and all that. As for Dranart's, it looks quite different (IMO) to the other. It's the way in which they use the chips that makes the style, not the actual graphics themselves. But you are right, there are quite a few games that use the Rudra style - mainly because it looks good and is easy-ish to use. It's also a complete group of graphics.

There are also a lot of games that use the RTP or Mack and Blue or Fire Emblem or FF1-6 rips. What matters is how you use them, not that you use them.

How willing are you to investigate?

I enjoy investigating and exploring RPGs as long as they're interesting. I like talking to NPCs, reading books (sometimes!) and checking cabinets as long as I know there's hidden stuff. It's no use adding stuff if you give no indication at the start of the game that there is stuff to find out there.

A pet peeve of mine is when a game doesn't show you that there's items to find/books to read/hidden extras in the first half hour or so. If you're making a game then let the player know there's stuff there to look for. You don't need to spell it out via NPC or book, just have examples of what to look for at the beginning of the game.

Can you find items in cabinets/barrels/pots/boxes or can you only get them from chests/monster drops? Can you read books on shelves or are they only readable if they're open? Do NPCs say random pieces of dialogue/do they change what they say after events or do they just repeat the same dialogue over and over? Are quests given at guilds/taverns, do they have to be found, do NPCs give them out, do you need anything to get them? Are bookshelves there for decoration, can you read the shelves or is it just titles of books?

All questions that need addressing at the start of a game and kept consistent. And now I'm just ranting. XP

Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

But Brain, where would we get ten rainbow coloured rhinocerii?
