LOTUS_GAMES'S PROFILE

For over 12 years, I have been creating my own video games and art. I started out by creating games on Microsoft Powerpoint believe it or not and then graduated to Rpg Maker and eventually to more advanced engines such as Construct, Unreal Dev Kit, and Game Maker. I have mastered Adobe Photoshop over the last several years and have become proficient in using Blender. I have a passion for creating, learning, and now teaching =]

Geeze...looks so sick, I like how you play with depth here and those trees and grass sprites! I can't wait to explore this map man.

Thanks so much Ashley Lacure, yeah the fire spirit didn't stand much of a chance. The weapon I used in the demo was a spirit weapon enchanted with wind magic and of course with the strength amplification song, my level 1 character felt more like a level 10 with his attacks.

Developer's Spot#1: I'm an NPC, The Role of NPCs in Your Games

I don't want to create a game, if it was possible I'd create an entire living breathing world. If I approach my game-design choices like that NPCS don't need to serve any real purpose towards the game itself, rather they'd be living entities with their own choices and actions that change depending on their own individual behaviors. Of course I don't have the skills to pull off something like this but that's how I try to approach my game design. They end up adding to the gameplay in how they are able to interact with the character but I "try" to allow them to do their own thing and make their own choices. This way they appear to have more stake in the world and feel more grounded. They are not just there to provide a one-liner when the player speaks with them, instead they appear to have purpose of their own and not just to the character/player.

Thanks Adon, haha.

Well I'd be happy to release the "engine" if I never finish the game. As it stand it has all the mechanics already implemented..to be more specific:
-A battle system with over 30 spells
-Full Menu
-Day and Night
-Economy system
-Bank system
-Shop Menu system
-Inn system
-Weather System (snow, rain, storm, fog, normal)
-Sound Effects System (ambiance and triggered)
-4 types of Doors (normal, locked, magic, locked + magic)
-Dynamic Foliage
-Ocarina
-Pet
-Mount
-Dynamic Items (bomb, lattern, etc.)
-Dynamic Crafting
-Desktop Simulation
-Message System
-Custom Enter Hero Name system

anyways you get the idea and the list goes on and on...all of these systems are dynamic in the sense that they work on any map you make and most of them are triggered by a simple call event, tweaks can easily be made if you want say your own custom graphics or what not. The deal is if I don't finish Eden Gate, I'll upload the 'engine' game folder and anyone who wants can use all these systems to make their own project, all you would literally need to do is work on story and mapping with these scripts in hand.

Woah notice board completely ignored your post and it's a shame because those are wonderful words of encouragement Ashes! Really man, thanks so much for the support...I think Eden Gate is the rpg maker game I have always dreamed of making so I'm trying to implement all of the systems I have wished I could prior to this project. I've never come so far with a project before and most of the mechanics are ready to go meaning you can just copy and paste a lot of things make minor tweaks and they can be used where-ever while still feeling unique. In a sense I'm making my own engine and should I never finish this game I'd be more than happy to release it as is so people can have a strong start in their own games.
