Secret/ Super Boss length
Ever play Chrono Trigger? There's a certain place at that leads directly to the end-boss. Alternatively, the end-boss can be reached via a certain dungeon. Either way, the end boss, if faced in these ways, takes on attributes of several previous boss fights. I don't even know how many times it takes on such attributes, but it'd be a long, overdrawn battle, if the player was forced to do all of them at once.
However, the game allows a brief reprieve between each new form taken. During this time, the player may choose to heal up, switch off party members, whatever. If the player wants to just face the next form, the game allows that too. Though I'm mostly sure the player cannot retreat, save, and come back later where he or she left off (somebody correct me on this).
While this has nothing to do with what you're attempting, at least to what I understand of it, I think this example should be considered.

Newbie
hey as you people can see im a newbie to the video game designing world. I have alot of question and i would like your honest opinions.
1. I have the game called Rpg Maker 2 for PS2, yes i have read and heard from lots of other people saying it has its good and bad points, but i dont have the best pc at the moment.
This query has been extensively answered already.
2. Can the ps2 rpg maker 2 be made into a final fantasy battle system?? because ive watch a video that it can be done but it might of been on the pc version???
My guess is that you saw a PC version of RPGMaker, but since I don't know what's possible with the PS2 version, who knows?
3. Im having a hard time trying to do the scripting part of the game and i would like to get some pointers for me to work on step by step.
Check this page. Scroll down. Along the side, there'll be a list of which engine you want tutorials for. Hope that helps!
4. Also ive heard it takes a alot of time and patience but i have the ability to enjoy of making my own game since im making a pretty funny one since its an idea my friends and I are going to do. but most likely im going to do all the work i just use their ideas to make the game more interesting.
so thats my story of trying to make my own game.
If you're new to the program, then I can understand how everything seems so daunting. Making a small project to get yourself used to your maker of choice, or even getting a feel for which will be your preferred maker, is generally good advice.
If anyone has more ideas i would like to hear them since im new to the gaming designing world thankyou for your help.
I think I just answered this? Anyway, welcome to the shoe. Feel free to explore your creativity with us!

Hmmm I dunno, I was looking for some responses and criticism on this menu, that looks more like a dumping ground for pictures, and like it would be really easy to lose your spot...
That's... kinda understandable, actually.
Anyway, looking at the pictures, I think I'm beginning to understand what Tanakayuuli wants to see. Meaning, having the "load" tab on top, then having the slot tabs under it. A least, I think that's what he's saying? Good luck with your finagling!

Being of the opinion that "less" means "less space to make a mistake in", I'm a proponent of keeping things small.
That's just my opinion, though.

Well, I could be way off-base here, but I'm assuming that Versalia was talking about this thread. Though he could just as easily be talking about this thread.
I'm tending towards the latter thread, as the topic's title more than suggests that it's a place to dump screenshots, whereas the former thread is more about general idea dumps.
Don't worry too much about whither or not you posted in the wrong place. You just didn't know there was a topic (despite it being stickied) where people post screenshots.

The Hole
Looks like wonderprince made my version public, 'cause I'm sure I never did. I think this means that potential players are supposed to get whichever version they think they will like better. In a way, I suppose getting one version over another is akin to some kind of voting system.
I meant for my version to be looked at by wonderprince first, to see if what I've done meets with his approval. Maybe alter a few things here and there, or whatever. I swear that I told him as much, but perhaps I was being a bit convoluted with my vocabulary.Blame Matsumori Days. More specifically, the character of Mitsuya Masako. The fact that my version currently stands with 0 downloads, I suppose this strategy never happened.
Anyways, happy gaming, players of The Hole, regardless of which version you get!
Side note: This feels like it should be a blog, but... never mind.
