My Computer Just Broke...

I'm wondering if this machine could still be under warranty? I feel like a one-year warranty for computers is the bare minimum, but, a five-year one wouldn't be impossible.

From my own experience in regards to life-span, my first laptop lasted from 2009 to 2015. That's about six years, and what made me get rid of it was keyboard issues. I bought one earlier this year, so that 'top that I bought in 2015 lasted about seven years. The only real issue I had with that one is that more and more games I was playing required a "high performance" power setting.

Well, a little bit of what Liberty is saying, but, in more general terms, what you are saying suggests to me that things are generally popping up uninvited/unwanted.

Dialogue choices in games

author=Red_Nova
Merlandese, that solution is an interesting one, but it seems to me that it forces the main character to have some elements of their personality already defined. In your example, is the the food being too salty objective fact? Or is that just the main character's personal preference?

I took Merlandese's example to mean that the player chooses what the opinion of the PC/protagonist is. Like, I could imagine that particular example looking like...

[Lie] The food is too salty
[Truth] The food is too salty

...this.

*Edit: Your "mood" example might follow a similar structure.

[Passive] Nothing happening so far.
[Assertive] Take it or leave it.
[Aggressive] Bleh, today is boring!

A quick question about distribution packages [RMMZ]

I'm having some trouble with...

When I made the distribution package, it wouldn't make one, as I was telling it to exclude unused files, which it apparently had a bit of an issue with.

...this sentence. What you you mean "it wouldn't make one"? Did it throw an error at you? Did it not throw an error at you then, but throw an error at you when trying to play off the disturbed version?

I don't know if the game in question had any plug-ins from MV, but, that might be something to look into. The two engines might use similar-looking code, since they are both made in Java, but, there might be some changes in MZ's structure that make certain plug-ins incompatible without tweaks.

Though, I would have certain doubts you could just pull over the database, and everything else, from an MV game into MZ, and call it a day.

Resurrect the Dying

I've got the perfect quote for you, Krimson.

Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere
Richard had noticed that events were cowards: they didn't occur singly, but instead they would run in packs and leap out at him all at once.

Need help opening games that download in crdownload format.

From looking up what the file-type is, it seems like an intermediary file type that Google Chrome uses when a user downloads a file. Like, it appends the text ".crdownload" to the file name automatically when a download initiates, and probably should remove said text when the file is finished downloading. "Should" might be the operative term here.

If this is not happening, I can see two options. One is that Chrome failed to complete downloading, and you'd have to try getting it/them again. The other is that Chrome succeeded in downloading, but it didn't remove the the appended text by itself. You could try to remove the ".crdownload" portion of the file to see if it runs as it should, or it just throws an error in your face.

Personally speaking, I think it's generally safer to download again and support the devs of the site, but, if this kind of thing is consistent across multiple files, that might be a point of worry.

A Dust Tale

For those of you that are looking to download/play this game, Gari has set up a dropbox file within the context of the old/lost/abandoned games thread.

Take that to mean what you will.
