Okay-ku Star Apprentice! I've officially gotten past the scene where Shoko talks, and the girls want to meet up with Michi. I'm considering giving the players a day or two off, as it were, from scripted events. Mostly because I'm thinking that the Fuu arc was rather front-loaded with scripted events with no breaks between them until the section of the dungeon where Fuu resides opens up.

What I'm not sure of is if I should let players have access to Iwayama during that break. If I do allow it in a general sense, should I allow players to delve into Junsuina's section? I dunno. I once had this idea/vision that the player would gradually go up Iwayama's slopes, maybe weaving through cave sequences as part of that travel. I can still convert/restructure the maps to do that, but, the main problem with this idea is that I've a tendency to want to avoid making maps as much as possible. XD

*Edit: This tendency to avoid map-making may be a reason why I'm here, posting what amounts to an inconsequential/minor update on my progress, rather than being in MZ, and, you know, working. XD

making dialogue

You can certainly approach this by using a game-variable. You probably could do it all in one event-page, by using a Conditional Branch. Such as...

CONDITIONAL BRANCH: Variable [0001] == 0
//Initial Dialog.
CONTROL VARIABLES: Variable [0001] += 1
EXIT EVENT PROCESSING
BRANCH END
CONDITIONAL BRANCH: Variable [0001] == 1
//Dialog that happens after speaking to NPC the first time.
CONTROL VARIABLES: Variable [0001] += 1
EXIT EVENT PROCESSING
BRANCH END
CONDITIONAL BRANCH: Variable [0001] == 2
//Dialog that happens after speaking to NPC the second time.
//If the dialog loops, do a <CONTROL VARIABLES: Variable [0001] = 0> operation here.
//Probably another <EXIT EVENT PROCESSING> too, just to be on the safe side.
BRANCH END

...this example. It might look somewhat different to this if you have an engine with self-switch functionality, and using said functionality for this purpose. However, this method should work with just about any RPG Maker.

looking for a team for a long term project

I'm gonna quote two things. One is unity.

Have you ever completed a project before? What qualifications do you have to lead a team to success?

The other is Liberty.

Please follow the rules!

When requesting for someone's help:

1) Be specific in your request, and give examples where relevant.
If it's a request for a resource, give a brief description of what you're looking for and be patient. Do not bump the thread it incessantly.

2) If you're hiring for a project, you'll need to be very thorough.
Give examples of your previous work, a link to images/information on the game, and tell us why we should care. Remember, you're trying to sell the project to people - they won't help you if they are uninterested. Also specify incentives/payment for helping with the project, if you are willing to give any. I have noticed a problem with these sorts of topics - IF YOU DO NOT CONFORM TO THESE RULES, YOUR TOPIC WILL BE LOCKED.

If you are requesting for someone else to help you make a project:

If you have just joined this site and do not know anyone, chances are that people are not going to respond to requests to make a project with you. Most people here are very busy with their own projects are not going to accommodate a random person they do not know. Your best chance is to network; get to know people, make friends, express interest in other peoples' projects, and provide feedback. Once people know who you are, they are much more likely to respond amiably to your requests, especially if you have done something to help them in the past.

These are the rules for this:
When asking for aid you MUST include at least as much information as someone who is creating a game page.

For those seeking help there must be:
- At least 500 words describing the game - what you're aiming for, game genre, story summary, systems planned, anything that will draw people in out of interest and what plans you have for the game itself. If you can't meet the word limit you don't have enough information to go looking for people to make the game with.
- 3+ screenshots of what you have so far or what you're capable of.
- Precise details about what you're looking for in people - what type of skills (mappers, writers, animators, musicians, etc); the skill level (beginner, advanced, professional); what you're looking to get out of them (a few sprites, 20 maps, an estimate of songs); what, if anything, you're willing to pay/recompense them with (nothing, monetary reward, t-shirts, something from the RMN store); the estimated amount/length of work (a few weeks, a couple of months, a year, until end of development).
- Past pieces of work, if applicable. This can be in the vein of written works, art, story boarding, games (even just flash ones) or anything that can show you have some sort of skill and the level of such.
- What you're willing to give in recompense. Is this a paid job? Is it an offer of some kind of service in return for the work? Do you expect free work?

In the case that a thread doesn't abide by these rules I will ask that it be updated. If after 48 hours it hasn't been, then I will move said topic to the Archives. I will not lock, so that the creator has the chance to edit and once edited, they may contact Liberty via PM and, if it meets the new rules, it will be moved back to the correct area.

In the case of rejection, topic spam will be met with warnings and/or bans, as per the site rules.

New demo available!

In the Ace version of the game, there was only one scene where Shoko has speaking lines. In this game, while I might be in the midst of writing the scene where she has her first speaking lines, I will not discount having future events where she has speaking lines. Though, if she does, they will likely be short sentences, given her personality. Maybe, when the optional skits come together, she will be more comfortable with speaking more if you have a high enough rating with her, but that's definitely an idea on the "later" pile!

Though, if I am to be honest, Shoko is a character that is close to my heart for various reasons. Because of this, I'm inclined to be cautious with her. Like, she's a broken bird to begin with, and I want her path to be one of healing. While the source of her trauma may never be explained/relayed in this iteration as it was in her Heartache iteration, or in the Ace iteration of this game, it is still very much present.

At what point do you declare your project "finished"?

I don't have the patience to peruse perfection, so my standards for what a "complete" project is might be lower than others. I usually either have a story I was looking to tell, or a mechanic I want to try out. If the mechanic is explored enough, or if the story story I was looking to tell can be told within the context of the game? It's done.

I've maybe two or three "remake" projects under my belt. So, it's not like I don't take old games/ideas, and instill them with new/better knowledge. I just don't revisit the original project to instill that knowledge. I make a new project that happens to share a few ideas/concepts that the original had, and do whatever tweaks to that project to hopefully make the new iteration of that concept/story/mechanic better.

Marrend plays Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete!

Sandro has proven a powerful foe. Given the stories told by Gem and Crag Hack, he's in control of two combination artifacts. Yog seems to think we could combat that, if we could reforge the Angelic Alliance.

As for how difficult it might be to reforge the Angelic Alliance, we've split up into two teams. For Gem and I, we seek Erathian lords that we might have to fight in order to properly "convince" them of our purpose.

Scenario notes/asides
Starting Bonus: 6 Rouges, Spyglass, <Boots of Speed>
Win Condition: Acquire the Sandals of the Saint, Helm of Heavenly Enlightenment, and the Necklace of Celestial Bliss (achieved day 6)

Back to Gelu and Gem. This time, they set out to find some of the components of the Angelic Alliance that Yog tore apart earlier.

This scenario was another "put these artifacts behind Quest Guards", where the "quest" was to bring either Gem or Gelu. Of course, it was easier to do those quests when I used Town Portal to towns the AI had previously controlled. XD

URLs in Download links...

In theory, what should happen is that it goes to whatever URL you put into the text box. There are probably a non-zero number of games that used mediafire pages to host their downloads, though, how many of them are still in tact is questionable at best. As I'm sure this thread could attest to this. ;_;

AGAIN!? GO AWAY. I'TS IMPORTANT. THANK.

I find it rather ironic that a highly probable spam-bot decides to post in a status about spam-bots.
