The Burning Grail

author=Linkis
I just found this game by accident only played a tiny bit so although I read it's short anyway....BUT

It does need to be seen by more players so I am BUMPING you to the top again :)

I'm confused. How does posting in a comment section put him in the top of...well, not sure what you're talking abotu when you mean the top.

But yeah, this game feels like it'd be a pretty good gateway game into rpgmaker titles, thanks to its simplicity, and its ability to engage you with the characters.

Curse Of Chromia

Ok, decided to play it.

This feels like the kind of full fledged game that someone who is passionate about game creation makes to seek out constructive criticism, so I'm here to give you two pointers on my two main issues.

Random battles towards the end of the game take way too long(up to 8 turns sometimes), and that made the game start to drag. Not sure what advice to give you on this, other than to try to make the experience less monotonous.

The dialogue wasn't bad enough to make me quit, but it that it kept me from caring all that much about any of the characters. Essentially, you need to work on structuring your sentences.

Alright out of the way, I will leave you with an honest compliment.
I ended playing this because you were completely honest about this being your first game, and you didn't pretend that it was anything special. The last game that I played was this game called Kukenstra: The Megalomanical Monasteries, which boasted a lot of features(all of which were bland at best) and featured dialogue which made the characters feel like robot aliens pretending to be real people. That game made me not want to play any other RM titles for months, this one makes me want to play more.

Anyways, I wish you well, and I hope that you continue making more games. Just try to consider your mistakes as you go along and act accordingly, and you could end up making something great.

If you do, please send me a private message or whatever.

Kukenstra: The Megalomanical Monasteries

Oh, and the fact that you completed this project less than a month ago, but you're not checking your comment section is pretty bad as well.

Anyone else set up a system for how they choose what to play?

I set up a system for how I choose to play games here, and I wanted some opinions on it. I was also wondering if anyone has either a system like this, or any system at all for how you do things.

Essentially, I filtered things so I only see completed games, with an average review score of 2 stars or more, and a download available. and I sorted game by the date added in reverse order.

From here, I read through every review and description of the first 8 pages of games, and made a list of the ones that seemed promising.

I listed each game under a category of writing, gameplay, or bizarre, as well as list a logical estimate for how long the game will take on average.

While I'm not perfect at keeping with this system, It's helped keep me a lot more focused, and cut down a lot on me simply looking around trying to decide what to play here

So again, what do you think of the system? Any suggestions for how to improve it? And do you have a system yourself?

Oh, and if anyone would like to see my notepad file, let me know and I'll put the text on pastebin.

Thank you for your time.

Kukenstra: The Megalomanical Monasteries

I played up until right after you buy armor, and the game wouldn't let me into the garilist monastary in town. I'd ask what I can do to solve this problem, but I really don't want to play this anymore.

I'm fine with a game that doesn't have much combat if the dialogue is fascinating, or you give me fun little tasks to do, but every character that I interacted with gave some of the most bland dialogue I've ever read in any game, and they mostly came off as aliens trying to pretend to act like humans, and failing in the most miserably painful way. And the tasks were just as bad. And of course the dialogue itself could not be more forgettable.

Overall, I'm not sure what I'm even supposed to like about this game.

Fey

If you were to make a logical estimate, how many hours will it take to complete this?

OHRRPGCE

I read all of that, and my thoughts are "Ok, but what exactly makes it different from the standard RPGMAker engine?"

I feel like I read a description for an MMORPG on steam where one of the features listed is that the game isn't turn based.

Curse Of Chromia Review

This review doesn't really tell me anything about the game itself besides its visuals, and essentially I could write up the exact same review just by looking at screenshots, and reading the description on the website.

I'm not saying that you did that, as I have no idea, plain and simple. But I have learned nothing about this game from your review because you essentially just make a bunch of blanket statements.

I could also point out how bizarre it is that you rank most of your categories so high, yet you make those features in this game sound boring btw.

If you want to make a better reviews, consider what you want to tell your readers about the game. And at the very least. give us a plot synopsis (that mentions things besides what is written in the official summary.), and maybe offer suggestions towards how he could make it more interesting. Maybe talk about the battle system in a way that someone that doesn't care all that much about how RPGMaker titles are made. This is someones first project. so maybe he's either done something good or bad that you don't usually see from titles like these.

Necropolis

I see that you haven't updated your blog since 2012. It's a shame. Wonder what in life got in the way.

Anyways, I at least think I've mentioned to you via pm a LONG time ago, this was the first game that I downloaded when I got here, and I really hoped that this would be completed. It's also probably the main reason that I don't play anything on this site unless it's complete.

Anyways, I was wondering if you'd be willing to allow others to try to complete this, provided that they give you full credit for what you have done.

Curse Of Chromia

What I got from the title is that this is intentionally generic.

My question is, is this a parody then?

Also, can you give me a logical estimate on how long this will take to complete(IE: Numbers of hours.), and how much grinding will be required?
