It's not so much that one mildly demeaning thread - that was hardly the most offensive thing to come out of the GW staffers/admins.

This whole 'G&D problem' has been hilariously mismanaged. The only reason the admins did anything at all was because Bart got pissed off and yelled at them for sucking at their jobs. Moving forums around and tweaking the rules a bit won't solve the problems at GW because the real problem is that the admins fundamentally don't care about G&D, and would gladly get rid of it if that didn't permanently kill off their only influx of new members and make it a fundamentally pointless community site based around cum stains on game screenshots and targ.

But I digress.

... "based on cum stains on gamescreenshots" is the point of the whole discussion; I beg you to actually read the topic. They want to broaden the accessability of their forums, they want new people to join. Isn't that a good thing?

Well thats cool but I think we need to put this link in GW G&D section to give people who feel like they are being shitted on a place to go or atleast bring awarness that sites like this exists....anyone willing to make a topic in G&D for people like me who had no clue about this site and didn't know where else to put info on their rm games?

Who is being shitted on? I don't feel that way. And look at strangeluv; he just released a very impressive rm2k3 game, do you see him getting pissed on?

Also, posting a topic on GW to urge everyone to get out of there is pretty much something that may very well cause a conflict. And that's not very desirable, in my eyes.

I don't think they are doing either, I think they are trying to discourage the use of it, though. Regardless of the "You haven't read/understand what we are trying to say!"

You really need to read THE WHOLE thread posted on GW to understand anything.

They're not disencouraging anyone, they're ENCOURAGING users of other makers to join the community and ALL makers to strive for quality (ie, being posted on the mainpage). That is, making the community bigger and better.

How you ask? Well, they'l keep the old G&D forum as it is; they're just moving the "finished games" forum and making it more... prominent :).

I will compose music for your RPG Games

B) i'm totally digging this...

I thought IGP was pretty much dead, but I seem to have been mistaken.

Oh, come on, the 20th? I'm hoping to get my demo done in a week or two :(

The Next Maker?

Actually, come to think of it, I'd like the maker to have an in-built system that plays the game and writes a full review for the players as well.

[Final Demo] Demon Destiny 1

Well, actually, I thought that the selection of music was the part of this game that was the most decent, and that Tau's scores are a bit higher than what the written text would imply :)

I'd like to give you, DD, some of my own tips for improvement, while I'm at it.

First off, always use captial I's and questionmarks where it is due. There aren't too bad spelling and grammar through out, but the lack the aformentioned symbols really made it bothersome to read. Also, try improving on the dialouge overall; there was alot of text, but not much of a dialouge, interaction or personality between the characters. Try reducing the amount of text and balance it out in a dialouge, and try to define the characters more throughout their interaction and responses.

Secondly, the storytelling is way too unorganized and fast to build up any mood whatsoever. Try analysing what happens in other games, not only commercial, but the few really good amateur RM games out there. It's all about up and down; shifting the progress and overall intensity of the game, constantly. Your game's intro proceeds too fast for the actual events going on. It would work, if it was supposed to be a brief flashback, and that might work as an intro, but you'd still have to set the mood for it and really improve overall. The other cutscenes I stumbled on can be corrected by reading these two paragraphs and start analysing "What's the point of this cutscene? How are the characters involved, how do they stick out in the situation? What's happening around them, is it stressfull and intense, or should I build up on some particular atmosphere?".

As for being cliché, I don't see it as a real problem, as long as you present it well. Also, this being your first game, I wouldn't worry too much, but once you have a plot or a scenario down, try seeing it from diffrent perspectives and try to get some inputs from the outside, that usually helps. Having colourful characters that can change the course of events is something that is absolute dire, as an interchangeable story might be seen as the characters are just put there to make a game out of it. I'm not talking about non-linearity or giving the player actual choices, more in the direction that perhaps depending on what characters are involved, they're bound to have their say and turn the tides, sort of.

I found the menusystem to be a nuisence really, and I'm not too fond of ABSs, even though this one worked overall well, I'm not going to comment too much on that.

Graphicwise, I'd agree with Tau, it's really a mess, in terms of clashing graphics. Try focus on one "style", so to speak, one source of your graphics, and practice on that; become really good with using them, by checking out other games maps and some mapping topics (GW has alot of them, I noticed) and then post them on here to get some input.

There you have it, I'd say. Good to see that you're open for input; it's one of the more important aspects to being a good gamemaker.
