Out of content - Time to restart, right?

What kind of things do you get when you play through FFX-2 again? I played the game a long time ago but never finished it. I know that you can only get the good ending by playing through twice (or doing everything perfect the first time). Are there new quests or is it just choices you have to make (like knowing to team up with that one faction rather than the other)?

Okay wait, why are we comparing Chrono Trigger to post game content. Chrono Trigger is 15 years old and has no post-game content, the DS version is terrible and doesn't count. Just because all post-game content you've played is bad, doesn't mean it can't be good. In fact, most jrpgs I've played aren't good examples of post-game content.

Except Final Fantasy Tactics, which is almost 15 years old, but it has good post-game/good side content (unlike chrono trigger). Deep Dungeon is a good example, and it does a good job of adding a gimmick/handicap to the game with the darkness. I like it when post-game content adds a little twist to the original battles and mechanics. Just having a NG+ or enemies with higher hp is lame. I'd like it if there was a twist to NG+, like having some sort of handicap or something would be cool. But if you can find a way to twist your core game mechanic on its side like what FFT does, it really adds to the experience. It's also good if you can tie in some backstory to the whole experience and not just make it SLAY THIS LARGE TURTLE AND GET 1 MILLION GIL.

This doesn't have to apply to just post-game content. But it can be a "not your average sidequest" type of thing. It can be done before or after the final boss, it's just recommended that you do it afterwards since it proves that you are ready for anything the game throws at you.

Anybody who gets to the end of our amateur games should get a cookie + some side content. They obviously enjoyed our work. =(

Or just give yourself a cookie.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

I think I know what attracts people to this game, it's the whole feeling of being a total badass. MW2's gameplay consists of trying to get as overpowered as possible with all the killstreaks and such.

Key to success in MW2:
Use Grenade Launcher with One man Army. This lets you have unlimited grenade launchers. Sit inside a building, plant some claymores. Success.

I still like the game because IW > Treyarch, but certain perks and 95% of the people make it a bad experience. That's why PC CoD 4 is so great, it's very easy stick with a server you like with the settings you like. Dedicated servers would have fixed everything.

Magi told me something once that I think most developers should take to heart: "Make monsters hit hard and fall fast." Unless, it's a boss.

Fixed. It was a pro tip if you use the 2k3 dbs.

Okay that was me being an asshole. I dislike games that throw a million names at you that they made up and expect you to know what they mean. Trying to give backstory on the world when you are using names that I can't affiliate with sucks. A good commercial example of this would be FFXIII.

On the Worship of Vaporware

This is a bad topic, sorry to say.

We all have our thoughts about certain games and what we think about their success. This topic doesn't help anybody, though. It doesn't help us improve our games, it's just a place for people to vent and get angry at each other. Personally, I don't think we should be stooping down to these levels by attacking other talented peoples games, their game profiles, or anything else of the sort. Nothing good can come from this!

I know this topic was aimed at like 3 people, but it has no purpose.

Why does dying have to suck?

I like RPGs, the problem is that I actually despise them. They are all the same. You could say this is a problem for other genres, too, but I'm talking about the GOOD games here. Good FPS games have some sort of well-implemented mechanic that separates the game from others, right? Good RPGs need to start being fun.
I think all genre specific games are the same. You probably notice it in RPGs more because you play more RPGs and the ratio of the rpg games to other genre games you play is probably 3:1. So naturally you're going to notice it more.

FPS games are wayyyy more samey than RPGs. yes, even good ones!

But yeah, I totally agree with the need for more interaction in battles rather than a message box popping up where you input commands. As much as tri-ace gets shit for having completely horrendous storylines and characters, Star Ocean and Resonance of Fate are good examples of not doing the same things jrpgs do all the time (in terms of battles).

Inns and outs

I don't really like it, but I've never played this game.

To me, it doesn't make sense to break up the healing into two separate parts, especially when you're in a town. It makes sense when Final Fantasy made Tents not heal as much as Cottages, because you use them in a hostile environment. Towns have no hostiles, so what's the purpose of trying to cripple what towns are designed for? (healing and resupplying)

I could see it work, though. Like if you were in a very long dungeon, separating the two up could give you some interesting concepts. Instead of using save points, you could have beds scattered around that act as the hp/mp healing. And if a person looks around, they might also be able to find a bath that cures their status effects. You could create some interesting options for the person playing if it was similar to this.

You asked for assistance and then talk down to people. No comment here needed you to go off and act like you're cooler than us. The replies posted were here to teach you that at this community, we don't do favors for a game we know nothing about. Think before you start posting about these kind of things.

"Yo, man, I need you to come take my shift for work for me. No problem, ya?"
"....I can't do that."
"Shiiiiit, fuck you then!"

*tries to steal* "Couldn't steal anything!"

I don't like the health idea because of what azn said. Most of the ideas here are very cool, but this is the dbs so you can throw 95% of what's been said out the window because of how hard it would be to implement them correctly. And I don't like the idea of going "uhhh fuck how much health does this guy have now?"
*scans*
"Okay, so maybe one more hit!"
*accidentally kills enemy*

That's too time consuming. Imagine having to do that for every encounter (with multiple enemies in each monster group) just because there is no indication of the monsters health.

You could put them all on one monster page if you wanted to. Set variables for each monsters max hp and current hp and do the calculations for whatever percentage of health. Then you would do the "if monster is target" command and do the magic there. At the end of the day though, I think your method is fine and I would just roll with it for now. It's just an rm2k3 steal command. I don't expect some REVOLUTION here.
