I did something kinda like this (but not as ambitious) here (well, Narcodis helped me by eventing a superior controlling method than my original version, but yeah).

I have an idea for another music-based game in my head which I'd love to get around to making, and I love music stuff in games in general so I say it could be cool I guess?

I'd probably give a game like that a whirl, how's the online part factoring into all of this though?
